A small flap has broken out today as the head of the national Fraternal Order of Police called on Wal-Mart to cease selling on line T-shirts made and sold by "Old Glory Merchandising" which features BLM slogans "Black Lives Matter" and "Bulletproof".

http://www.why4news.com/2016/12/21/...-matter-t-shirts-after-receiving-a-complaint/

Wal-Mart said it would stop selling the Old Glory T-shirt "Bulletproof" on line but no others.

I have an opinion on this but it has nothing to do with guns directly until...

"Jim Pasco, the executive director of the police union in Washington, said union members had complained about the shirts because they felt Walmart was selling anti-police items.

‘There are a lot of people who feel too many guns are sold,’
Pasco told the Washington Post. ‘Why not speak out against things that might be seen as fomenting violence, rather than things that commit violence?’"

Now I'm not too fond of cops calling out to ban certain things like T-Shirts, books or movies will be not too far behind maybe, though they have the right to be wrong same as others if they decide to not take their position in society seriously, but I'm also not fond of them dragging gun control into it either. Guns don't "commit violence". I'm pretty sure that by themselves they do not "foment" violence either.

I don't know anyone in law enforcement who's offended by slogans on t-shirts.

This guy doesn't speak for cops on the street, although he pretends to ... he's simply getting his name in the media. Wal-Mart? Really? Too easy of a target.

'Tis is sorry day in our country if we feel we must censor t-shirts or call for sales of them to cease because "someone is offended."

I do not support Walmart. It has supported Liberal causes for years. They stopped selling handguns and now the evil assault rifles. These leeches are collecting working class dollars and protecting the Coastal Elite. They have closed down many small town gun stores with their Big Box power. They like any snake are slowly constricting the gun markets.:(

The anti gun groups tired to go after the guy legally OC'ing at the protest in Dallas when the guy the DPD later blew up killed 5 and wounded 7 officers.

They even put his photo on TV as a person of interest.

Not a lot of air time on the video of him locating an officer and turning over his rifle...

The Fraternal Order of Police doesn't speak for anyone other themselves and certainly do not represent a majority of LEO opinions relative to firearms. I ceased giving them any donations a few years ago no matter what cause they claim.

Exactly.

If Wal Mart isn't selling handguns or assault rifles, and the small town gun stores selling handguns and assault rifles have closed down, that should tell you something about the demand for handguns and assault rifles in your area .....

The Fraternal Order of Police has a pretty long history of anti-gun advocacy. They were for the Brady Bill and the "Assault Weapon" Ban.

Back in '96, the Chicago Lodge of the FOP demanded that convicted wife beaters be allowed to carry guns... but ONLY if they also carried BADGES. At the same time, they supported the city's handgun BAN which disarmed the VICTIMS of domestic violence.

I have a similar degree of "respect" for police unions that I do for Black Lies Matter.

.45 Auto, What it tells you is the Big Box stores are not your friend. Wyoming has the highest personal gun ownership in the Nation. So we have the demand.

There's a LOCAL "big box" chain here called Fin, Feather, Fur Outfitters. They're doing fabulously.

Why? Selection, price AND service.

There's been a long history of insane price gouging, poor service and shady practices by a lot of the "mom and pop" stores here.

NO business has an inherent claim on my patronage, no matter what their egos may tell them to the contrary.

I don't agree with those goons burning flags and wearing that garbage but it is their right to do it. It is disgusting and bad taste but we have to remain calm.
We might not like it but the 1st amendment is as important as the 2nd.
A different thing is if they actually get involved in criminal activity associated to those kind of organizations.

As for Walmart, well... I don't go inside there and others like them no matter what they offer.
Aside form being political they are a clear representation of how, big wall street, has killed mom and pop's family owned businesses all over America.
So I do not get once penny from me. Instead I support as much as I can the local family owned businesses, farmers and ranchers.
I was in Walmart once in my lifetime due to an emergency getting a battery I could not find anywhere else but I will never come back if I can help it.

I live by the values I preach. IMO one penny spent at Walmart, home depot, target, etc... is one more penny invested in the future misery of our children.
I am convinced spending a bit more with the smaller guy is a small investment towards a foundation for a better future.

Nobody's killed "mom and pop" businesses like "mom and pop" themselves.

Price gouge, treat your customers like crap, and engage in sleazy business practices and then play the victim as petulantly as any social justice warrior and see what it gets you.

What it WON'T get you is any of my money.

WalMarts still sell handguns, just not where you live.
WalMarts can order any "assault rifle" you want....they just don't display or stock them because they don't sell.

These leeches are collecting working class dollars and protecting the Coastal Elite.
What a load of baloney.

Any gun store that has been "closed down" by WalMart probably wasn't much of a gun store to begin with.

It is pretty simple to understand Walmart. They just want to make money and will generally carry anything that will sell in volume. They stopped carrying the AR's in my area a while back and have not sold handguns for as long as I can remember in any area I have lived. I go to Walmarts a lot because they carry a great selection of goods at generally very competitive prices.

Sure, that makes it right.
Yes, exactly.

Glad you see it my way. :)

I'm obviously kidding and cutting short your sentence in fun, but those who adhere to completely restraining rules of conduct when fighting an enemy who adheres to none are unnecessarily handcuffing themselves.

You do it your way and I'll do it mine.

Walmart has never sold assault rifles.

Yeah, I am still trying to figure out how Walmart is shutting down gun stores with their limited selections of guns.

Walmart in my area definitely has caused grocery stores to close or leave the area. Walmarts are thick here. But guns.... nope. They just never carried a broad enough selection and I wasn't willing to order one on line for delivery to a store.

The accusation here is that Wal-Mart is the leeches and collecting working class dollars.

"Protecting the coastal elite"? Wal-Mart? Big Box stores protect the elite? Is it just the Coastal Elite? They are based in Arkansas maybe they protect an elite or two there.

There is nothing unusual here though. I can't think of a single major corporation that aren't leeches and exploiters. It's in the nature of capitalism that they are.

Is BLM a racist hate organization? I don't think so. First cuz they are hardly an organization, second the leaders of the movement have spoken out against the shooting of police and denounced it as harmful to their fight. They are liberal and some among them spout nonsense. But all in all the fight to defend the bill of rights and to have all shootings by the armed representatives of the state investigated and punished when they do wrong is a good fight.

Linking to a video of a right wing version of Michael Moore don't pass the smell test.

Black Lies Matter and the police unions are photographic negatives of each other.

They both want to create untouchable castes, not subject to the laws which the rest of us must obey.

Police unions want to protect cops from the consequences of their criminal acts.

Black Lies Matter wants to protect Black (and ONLY Black) felons from the consequences of their criminal acts.

They have the same fundamental goal. Only their constituencies differ.

I have not the slightest desire to be played EITHER by Deray McKesson OR Patrick Lynch.
