I’m looking for opinions from anybody who has used the Walker’s Razor X or XV ear pro. I’d like an alternative to over the ear electronic muffs, without the price or battery issue of some of the in the ear options such as SportEAR. The Walker’s Razor X seem like they might be a decent option. I’m particularly curious about the battery life since they use a USB charger and can’t just be easily swapped out at the range or in the field, and also how stable the neck piece is when moving around, from various shooting positions, etc. Any all input would be appreciated.

I ordered some for uspsa and ended up sending them back. Had issues with them not clamping down on sounds fast enough. gunshots a few seconds apart they would block the first one and amplify the second.

Sounds like you might have had them set to the wrong mode...indoor/outdoor

I think we might belong to the same Facebook group as this question came up on my feed there. Never the less, the information might be useful to a reader here on this forum.

I've gone through two pairs of the Razor X.

They were very comfortable and stayed in place around my neck very well during a couple of IDPA matches. I didn't think they offered very good directional clues to the location of sound...compared to my MSA Sordin muffs

You do have to pay attention to correctly fitting the foam ear plugs to you ear canal to optimize noise reduction.

My issue was battery life. The Amazon ad says "up to 10 hours"...I was getting just over 5. When I went to return them to Amazon, they offered a replacement pair. The second pair had about the same battery life. A fellow shooter had the XV model and said that his had been running in excess of 8 hours

I called Walker CS and the rep talked to their supervisor who confirmed that his personal pair was good for about 5 hours. He said that the battery of the X and XV were the same with run time being affected by selected volume and ambient noise levels. He offered two solutions:
1. Carry a portable battery pack to maintain charge between stages
2. Purchase a 2nd set to overlap coverage...he offers a 50% discount, off MSRP, if I wanted to pursue this route.

I decided to take him up on the 50% discount, chose the XV model, and it is charging (10 hours initial charge) next to me as I type

Yep, same group. Thanks for the info here and there. I’ve received far more negative comments about these than positive, so I’ve scratched them off the list. I just can’t stand wearing muffs for long periods of time during the summer, it’s almost unbearable. I may need to breakdown and buy one of the more expensive options, it’s just the battery life on those sounds like a problem as well.
