Walther G22 or Browning Buckmark Sporter rifle?

I want a semi-auto 22 rifle that strays from traditional looks. It will be used mostly for plinking, and occasional hunting. G22 or Browning Buckmark sporter rifle. (or might I be better served with a S&w m&p 22, ruger Sr22, or remington 597 vtr?)

The S&W 15-22 hands down. That thing is a tack driver out of the box, and it's fun as all get-out. Slap a mini scope on there, and you're set!

IMHO, the G22 is a PoS, like any thing Umarex makes.

I don't have experience with the other options you listed, but any one of them would probably be better.

I have some 10/22s that look nothing like the factory carbine; there's an absurd number of options out there for aftermarket. I like time-proven-designs and a readily available supply of all parts.

Never owned or shot one, but the Buckmark carbine is a neat little rifle. The pistol variant (which is virtually identical) has proved to be extremely reliable and accurate. I would go that route.

I really like my Buckmark sporter,that said it isn't as accurate as my 10/22T. But it is different and alot of fun too shoot.

I own a G22. I do not recommend it.

I passed up a chance to buy a Buckmark Sporter at a good price, and sometimes regret this. I do not like the field-strip procedure for the Buckmark, which IIRC requires you to remove any scope you've mounted, but it looks cool and should be high quality.

So, between your two initial options, the Buckmark by far.

I would also seriously consider getting a 10/22 and customizing it, though. Good rifles, tons of aftermarket support. I would do that before getting any of the AR-styled .22s which mostly are overpriced and of dubious construction. If I wanted an AR-styled .22 I would get a real AR-15 and add a .22 upper or conversion kit.
