Walther P5 Factory Magazines

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know of a good source for Walther factory magazines for their P5 handgun?

I thought it might take the same magazines as the P38 since it has thesame capacity and is based heavily on the older gun, but I am not sure of this.

I checked all of my usual sources and none were to be had.
ebay used to be a great source of hard to find magazines until they went politically correct after the Virginia Tech shootings.

Unfortunately, the P38 mags will not work in the P5 as the latching mechanism is different betwwen the pistols.

There is a version of the P5 called the P1A1 export version that will accept P-38 but they are very uncommon.

I spent the better part of a year trolling gun shows to find eight mags for my P5.

This was years ago and they were scarce as hen's teeth back then!!

Will the P5 generally feed hollowpoints out of the box?

Claus at German Guns is an excellent source for all things Walther, including magazines for the P5 (they are not interchangable with the P.38; sorry). He's generally less expensive than his American counterpart, but recognize that you have to send to Germany to deal with him. No worries, however. He regularly supplies all sorts of Walther owners in the USA; his service is fast and most efficient. Here's a link:
