Walther P99 Upgrades?

I am new to Walther pistols; I recently purchased a P99 .40S&W.

I have looked extensively, but have been unable to locate upgrade replacement parts (barrels, springs, etc.) for this gun.

Does anyone know if these parts exist, and is so, where they might be obtained? Any information regarding this dilema would be greatly appreciated.

What makes you think the barrel or springs need to be upgraded? Its quite a well made gun and I'd urge you to shoot it for a while before dumping cash on parts. I think jarvis and bar-stop used to both make threaded barrels so you might contact them and see if they can make you a match grade barrel if you need it.

i dont believe they need upgrading. My p99 is one of my favguns right out of the box

Soybomb, thanks for the info on Jarvis barrels. I checked them out and placed an order for one.

I agree with the last comment that the P99 is an awesome out-of-the-box gun, but I am always looking for improvements.

Also, I am familiar with the Sprinco recoil system, but have read bad things regarding this product. Any idea where I can pick up an upgrade recoil rod and/or spring?

I have am REALLY into P99s. - I have 3. I must say that there is really not much aftermarket stuff for them unfortunately. There is some ugly magwell and an ugly thumbrest that is available on Ebay. That's about it. The Sprinco seems to be a waste of money - thats the consensus I've read by people who have bought 1. There really is nothing else out there except for tac lights and lasers.

I have not seen any other springs. Rumor has it that there were some metal guiderods out there at 1 time, but not so much anymore.

The link above is really the only place to get things for the P99 - Although, Earl's repair shop (the place at the above link) is super expensive. He charges a hell of a lot for a threaded barrel.

One "upgrade" I made to my recently-acquired 40S&W P99 AS was to replace the striker spring with a Wolff one intended for a Glock pistol. I went with the 5.5 lb. striker spring instead of the 4 lb. one, as several P99 users on www.waltherforum.com were reporting light strike problems with the latter.

The results were, simply put, phenomenal. The single-action trigger now breaks crisply at a measured 3.2 lbs., compared with about 5 lbs. with the factory striker spring. I have not encountered any light strike problems in the almost 200 rounds shot since the striker spring upgrade.

Trijicon Sights for Walther P99

Any advise on installing these ? i just purchased a set of trijicon WP01Y.
DIY or send it out ?

Any recommendations ?

The sights are meant to be taken off by the user - It is easy. There is a tiny allen wrench to remove your existing front sight. And, U just push down the little detent pin to slide the rear sight off (hold the pin or it will shoot up).

The rear sight should slide right in after U remove the screw from the stock sight and put it inside the night sight. Then, slide it in and adjust the screw as necessary to bring it where u need it. U may have to make small adjustments at the range the 1st time.

Then, for the trijicon front sight - it may be tricky to find something to fit the screw on the new night sight to tighten it. U may want to use some of the non-permanent locktite on the front sight screw so it doesn't fly off.

Good luck with that. I've heard people lightening such springs on other guns, and after 1k rounds or so, they start having problems. When U get 1500-2k rounds, please make a post about your results. I'd be interested to know ifthis works long term. I doubt I would ever do it, as I like my gun as is. But I am curious.

I have the P99 in 9mm. It is amazingly accurate foe a short barreled pistol. I do have Jarvis and barsto barrels for a Sig 226 and 229 - both have been excellent performers.

Jarvis called today and informed me that they no longer offer P99 barrels in .40 S&W. Needless to say, I was disappointed, but I will not give up my search.
