Bought a couple of Walther PPS's, one in 9mm, one in .40. I like the guns, but find loading the magazines a bit frustrating as the last couple rounds are quite hard to push into the magazine. Is there a fix for this? Reluctant to try an aftermarket mag and hope it works. In looking at the mag, I can see no obvious way of removing the spring if I were tempted to replace or shorten the spring. I'm not sure I would do that without consulting somebody very knowledgable in the feeding of the Walther, as I suspect the heavy springing is to ensure reliable feeding.

Anybody out there with experience on this issue, and, if so, what is the "fix"?

I agree, I just use a magazine loader anymore. The uplula is a very good mag loader and works well with most magazines.

If you have the mag fully loaded (for instance topping it off by dropping the mag and putting a single round into the mag to replace the round that you just racked into the chamber and then putting the mag back into the pistol) all the time then after a few weeks then it'll loosen up a great deal after a couple weeks.

The mag springs will loosen up in even a bit less time than that if you're going shooting once or twice a week in addition to that and the magazine springs are having a chance to depress fully and expand fully.

Just received mine in the mail and it is terrific! Thanks for the recommendation, it was a good one!

Mags will loosen up with time. If able, I usually leave new magazines fully loaded for a month in my safe before shooting them.
