I have my first gun a taurus 66 in blue finish,
Not worth much but sentimental value, I would like to carry it outdoors but would like to get it stainless.
Some day I will pass it on down to my kid's,
But for now wher can I send it to get it stainless and how much?.

You can't make a carbon/blued gun stainless. You can have it hardchromed. Tripp research or Metaloy are good. Price was around 200.00 last I checked.

Living in Arizona, which is known for it's lack of humidity and if I remember right is not too close to the salt air of a nearby ocean, you should have no problem carrying a blued gun out of doors. All you'd have to do is wipe it down with a silicon cloth or oiled rag each evening before putting it up. If your sweat is particularly acidic you may want to get a stainless gun for carry.

Stainless steel and carbon steel are two different types of steel. Stainless is more resistant to rust than is cardon steel. Both however need to be wiped down after a day on the hip.

Haveing your current piece refinished will likely run anywheres from 150-300 dollars depending on where you send it to and what you want done to it. IIRC Robar is out your way and you may want to see what they have available.

But, like I said, think through the cost question and do some research. You may want to keep this piece for sentimental reasons and buy a stainless for carry.

A blued steel gun is preferred by many and not a problem as far as rusting etc. as long as you don't expose it to salty high humidity air, ocean water for a long period of time, or leave it soaking in a creek somewhere. I prefer blued guns. Never had a problem with them rusting. Wipe it down with oil leaving a light film. Clean it once in a while especially after being wet. A little care and it should last two life times.

As has already been stated, you can't make it stainless. You can get NP3 done, and Robar is in Phoenix too. They've got a stellar reputation, plus they're in your state of residence - sounds like a win to me. http://www.robarguns.com/np3.htm
