For anyone interested, all six seasons of Have Gun Will Travel are available on Netflix streaming. Powerful show.

Edit to add: The Rifleman is available from Netflix on DVD only. It doesn't look like Amazon's Instant Video carries it.

Yes I was a huge Rifleman fan.

Lots of other good ones mentioned, but am I the only one that remembers "Sugarfoot"?

Yes I liked the Rifleman and a lot of the other shows back then. I still watch them now and then.

A favorite is Wanted Dead or Alive.:)

I was hooked on Rifleman, Wanted Dead or Alive, Lone Ranger, The Rebel. I even have a Mare's Leg because of the TV show. Later in life I began to appreciate Have Gun Will Travel, now it is one of my top 3.

Accurate or not, they all had good stories to tell and cool weapons.

I liked him in Branded too. Where he was in the calvary and drummed out unfairly for cowardice. Then he had to prove he wasn't. 2 seasons. '65 '66

No, even as a child I realized that it was total BS.
WoW!

Whatever your stripe, you have to admit it was way better then all the "Singing Cowboy" movies & TV shows that preceded it!

Running around in tight fitting fancy pants with your guitar while fighting rustlers?
Now, THAT was total BS!

And yes, the moral teachings in every The Rifleman show would do a lot of kids some good today!!

Rawhide
Have Gun Will Travel
Lone Ranger
Zorro
Cisco Kid ( "oh Cisco.... oh Pancho!")
The Wild Wild West - (James West would fight anyone, or any group of ones.... loved Robert Conrad on Baa Baa Black Sheep/Black Sheep Squadron)

Gunsmoke was a little to drama for me, didnt appreciate it then.

I am 26 and came across this show on early Saturday mornings. I think the episodes air from 6am till 9am. So much entertainment.

Not sure why people are getting upset like this show is supposed to accurately portray the old west. It's television show for children, not a documentary.

A little nitpick

OK, I know it's not acceptable here to nitpick spelling or grammar or typographical errors; I've already had one post summarily deleted for that. And I know that dyslexia is an affliction that should not be made fun of.

But PLEASE, if only as a courtesy to the Christians among us, try not to confuse "cavalry" with "Calvary" (aka "Golgotha", the site, outside ancient Jerusalem, where Jesus was crucified). Thanks.

my dad remembers whirly birds. he is 66 and did not get electricy until 1952. strange thing is that i have watched all of these shows and liked them, I am 28 years old and have never sent a text message or been to the faciespace like some of you older "gents". well, got to respect the elders.

Yes, and all of them, Bonanza, Bat Mast. etc.. I even walked spiningand imaginary rifle on my right arm. When I have first BB pratice killing a tomato can and later shooting with out aiming from my hip which with practice is feasible.

CZhen,

Ps.: At the time of joining to this great forum years ago "The Rifleman" name was taken.

FYI - Chuck Connors was married 3 times to women and had 4 children. You may get married 1 time to cover your "true identity", but not 3 times!

If Connors was the one working the lever action in the opening credits, why didn't they show his face while doing it?

OK but please remember that many of us (Christian by the way) went to public school.............and that is reflected in our poor spelling.

So even if he mis-spelled it, I knew what he meant.

Just a thought..........if Christ were here right now, how do you think that he would react to that mis-spelling. ;)

Heck the rifleman was one of the few TV shows I was allowed to watch as a kid. Loved watching it whenever I could.

CZguy,

I understand what your saying, but it ticks me also! What about spelling, I attended public schools for 12 years....... and................

Owen Sparks
This was all FICTION. The old West was nothing like what was portrayed on TV and the movies in the 1950's and 60's. That was MAKE BELIVE aimed primarily at gullable children.

Yeah right, and I suppose there is NO Santa Claus either?

Will this post get me censored (or censured)?

Don't blame public school; Well, maybe today's public schools.
I'm a product of the NYC public schools, 1954-1966, where I learned (among other things) that there's no hyphen in "misspelling".

On another note, "CZguy", are you any kin to "CZhen"? 'Twould appear that person's native language is other than English. I'm not criticizing, just illustrating how much can be revealed about a person by how he or she writes.

As to "...if Christ were here right now, how do you think that he would react to that mis-spelling?":
Well, I'm just an old Jew, and I'm already getting tsuris for trying to stick up for Christians, but, if you're a Christian, whaddya mean "IF Christ were here now"?
