WASR-10 Battlefield longevity and reliability Same as original AK?

I'm not so sure why you'd want a WASR-10 on a battlefield (1. being what Battlefield exactly are you on? 2. being that the WASR is semi-automatic, which the original AK is).

I don't see why it would not work on the battlefield. A lot of guerrilla fighters around the world are fighting with even crappier home-made AK's and they seem to still work. WASR's are ugly, canted, and did I mention ugly... but they do go bang, and if you learn your weapon's POI/POA, I see no reason why you cant make good long range shots with one.

As an initial note: AK reliability is heavily overstated on the internet. They're solid guns (if made properly), but if you've never had one jam or seen one jam, you've never really pushed them hard.
I disagree. My experience is that they really do run under almost any circumstances. I own one, and have friends who own. We tend to agree--they won't break, but they won't win accuracy contests, either.

Mine will CONSISTENTLY shoot 1-2MOA....from a stone cold barrel. After it warms, 4-6MOA depending on ammo. 6MOA with Wolf, 4MOA with anything better.

Seems like my magic MOA SKS has a few soviet designed buddies in the "I don't believe that gun shot those groups" club.

My WASR couldn't get through an entire mag without a jam when I first bought it... I then put my mechanical skills to the task and figured out what wasn't working. First off, the feed ramp was so roughly machined that the tips of the bullets were catching in the mill marks. Second off, neither of the mag followers were clearanced correctly. They would bind up towards the end of the capacity.

15 minutes with a Dremel polished up the feed ramp and ground the offending material from the mag followers. No problems now. As for accuracy- all I care about is being able to keep to a 6" group at 50 yds, offhand. Mine does that just fine.

As for a TEOTWAWKI rifle, I like my HK 91. I can't convince it not to work.
