Stuhrling dress watch for shirt n tie occasions.
Ten year old Pulsar retired but still works.

I'm almost 60 years and have never owned a watch - doubt I ever will. I learned a long time ago everyone has one, what do I need one for.

Casio alarm chrono

$16 Casio alarm chrono. Use it to wake me up for work in the morning, and the battery is still going after 8 years.

Wife got this for me over the weekend in Vegas as an early Christmas present. She knows I've been looking at watches to replace my 30 dollar digital for about 6 months

Omega

Have an Omega Seamaster Professional Chronometer 300Meter Dive watch :uhoh: . Bought it half way through my tour in Iraq. Held up great in Iraq during ops and also travel and working in field environments in Asia. This watch is incredible. All I have put it through and yet still the dace is scratch resitant and still looks new!! Movement and time is very well made. Well worth the money I paid. The Stainless Stell bracelet has proven strong and very comfortable. The fit and finsih on this watch is superb.

Like most of you I have several.

Have a Breitling Navitimer (blue face), but after dinging it on a hunting trip (stopwatch function would not work after I jammed a button) I bought a Luminox Titanium with a blue face!

Both are great watches.

Wife uses a Wenger.

I also have a no name Swiss Automatic for when I travel to 3rd world countries.

$15 at KMart. Time, date, alarm, stopwatch, all illuminated. Good for 5 years. Tactical Black.

You guys have really gotten me thinking about watches with this thread!!!

Years ago, I was given my uncle's Longines Lindbergh commemorative watch and have taken to wearing it when running around on my days off. It's a beautiful watch and I'm glad to be enjoying it instead of having it sit in a box in the wardrobe. I'm also amazed at how people treat me differently when the see me wearing a watch that I assume is worth more than a thousand dollars (I've never checked on the value of this model, but Longines does make some pricey watches.)

Anyhow, now I'm looking for something to replace my work watch (a G-Shock on a "The Band" watchband) as I am no longer satisfed with a watch when I can have a chronograph. Weird how this stuff grabs you.

Long story short, any ideas for a chronograph that says quality, but isn't too expensive to wear to work when your job is physical? I'd like a largish face, with numerals. I would like some type of illumination that I can make out in low light, either a backlight, sidelight, or tritium, though I'm not too sure about tritium. The one watch that I've seen, that I like, is in all of the gun rags. It's called the MTM tri-light, or some such, and has three LED bulbs in the face that can actually be used as a mini-flashlight. It's soooo good, it's used by special forces operators around the world.

I like the steel band, but what about durability in a watch that costs around $300? Can you get a good movement in this price range? Those Luminox watches look good, but I don't want anything that says "Navy SEALS" or the like.

And I don't need something that has fifteen different functions. Yea, all those different faces look neat, and I have used the ones on my Longines, but I don't use them all the time and they are not pertinent to my line of work. Anyone still making a simply time-keeper?

I'd really like to hear your thoughts on the matter. Oh, and that Omega Seamaster is the complete shiznit! Talk about a beautiful piece!!! Out of my price-range, but damn is that hot. Congrats.

Wow, this thread is going on 8 months now. I wouldn't have expected I would start such a popular thread. I'm so proud. :D

I have a number but the only two that see any wrist time are my Gold and Stainless Movado Esperenza and my Stainless Omega Speedmaster.
In my winder I have a Rolex GMT Master and an 18k Rolex President that my father bought back in '78 and gave to me when I graduated from UW (Never seen a minute on my wrist).

Attn Vaughn T

Two citizen ecodrives. one a titanium dive watch and the other a stainless that looks a lot like a Rolex even when I put them side by side. Both have been impervious to my sweat and the stuff I get into at work. For $220 or so these have been outstanding watches, accurate to seconds a month. With the weaker dollar these have been coming down in price lately and are truely swiss made wonders.

A cheap but all stainless timex expediton with indiglo and twist and set alarm is my travel watch. I get mugged or loose it in the hotel, I do not cry.

A Hamilton Pocket Watch in my suit on special days.
