alright, i admit that after seeing 28 days later i went out and bought a bunch of mags and ammo(before i thought 90 rounds and 3 mags was enough). the main factor in my doing this was the scene where the british soldier is hiding under the bed and screaming "i'm out of bullets!" before getting savaged by infected zombies. i'm now sitting on 40+ mags and three cases of russian spam can ammo for my AK.

if zombies ever attacked i would want to be as prepared as possible, becoming one of the living dead just isn't my thing.

now, after seeing the trailer for the new Day of the Dead zombie movie i really think i need a tactical AK light. i figure that if the SHTF power/lights are one of the first things to go and i want to be prepared.

focus: anyone here bought anything they really didn't need at the time but soon felt they did with some prompting from hollywood?

You should have watched Quigley, Down Under. Single shot rifle and plenty of ammo.

I doubt the Nazis are gonna send their top instructor at their sniper school over here to come and get me, but just in case, I have a (replica) Mosin Nagant 91/30 PU on hand ;) . I just gotta get some potato sacks to wrap it up in  . Oh, and I need the little hand-held periscope for seeing around corners  . In case you didn't know, it's because of Enemy at the Gates :D .

It sure is...

I watched "Heat" for about the 100th time recently.

I realized that I need 2 Class III shorty M-16s with ~25 mags each, a P-220 and Ashley Judd.

This is gonna cost me.

:D

Good point. But have you priced a Sharps lately. He still has less money tied up in an AK and all th mags and ammo than a nice Sharps.

yup.

until recently, i never felt the appeal of paying high prices for standard capacity mags. i admit to secretly agreeing with "10 rounds is enough for most defensive scenarios".

then i watched underworld. now i just need some standard capacity mags. :D you just never know what beasties might be out there! a side effect is now i want kate beckinsale too...

Saving Private Ryan = M1 Garand and M1903A3 Springfield. Can't afford an A4

Snatch = Almost wanted a Desert Eagle Point Five Oh, until I shot one. I'm not a big fan of the DEagle. At least the one I shot.

I'm sure there are tons of .44 Magnums rusting in people's sock drawers.

After seeing escape from LA I wanted to buy a harley, jump it, and land in the back of a moving pick'emup, does that count?

I started buying more ammo than I "needed" after watching resident evil. I've been broke lately, havent bought ammo in about three or four weeks, but I still have enough to shoot my way to my car if zombies attack...

After watching "The Replacement Killers", my CCW rig involves 8 indentical fullsize 9mm handguns. ;)

heheheh... watched boondock saints when I was trying to decide on a 9mm pistol-- ended up with a beretta, one of the deciding factors being "it looks sooo damn good on film".

I'm about to wrest the geek crown from the current king:

six silver bullets for my gp100!

These are pure silver (.999) melted from bullion, cast, then shaped with a dremel and size checked. They are 145-147gr. flatpoints loaded over 11gr. of Bluedot with a 'silver' federal primer in a nickled case. All this polished with really fine steel wool then buffed with jewelers rouge. Awesome. I wish I hd a digital camera so that I can show you (BTW, nice heavy crimp!) The movie that made me do this: "Dog Soldiers". Yeah, I know, what about "Silver Bullet" (which definitely fueled the cause), but something about watching those two campers at the beginning of the movie get mauled by big bipedal dogs just got me scared up since I do alot of camping!:uhoh: BUT, now I'm prepared for those werewolves we KNOW exist out there! Man, I'm geek: let the tomatoes fly!

dustind- No! Hell no! (sound of me droping some swords...)

I'm of the belief that too much ammunition -ISN'T-.

And that unless you can count it in metric tonns, you're seriously short.

The fact that the entireity of the US Armed Forces is running low from Iraq and 'stan drives this simple fact home.

Nobody ever complained about having stockpiled TOO MUCH ammo after they were in a gunfight.
