I just ordered a Weatherby Vanguard Sporter in .308. Are Weatherby mounts the best way to go? I already got a scope for it, Leupold VX3 4.5 a x 20 x 40. Best ammo for it?, shows to be a 1/10 twist and looking at shooting 150 grain factory loads

If it's going to be a lighter hunting gun, I'd probably go with dnz or Talley ring/mounts. vanguard/howas are bloody heavy save weight where u can.

For range, or if weight dosent mater, egw or warne rail and warne rings.

I tend to prefer loading 165s for the .308, but that twist rate has proven quite good with everything. More likely than not you'll simply have to try some ammo to see what it likes, I'd bet you can find a 150 that shoots very well.

sorry, ment to say that all the rifle manufacturers who offer branded ring/mount, and other accessories, are getting them from one of the major suppliers. I'm not sure what wby has for options, but I'd figgured out what you want and see if the branded or originals are cheaper. I just bought a set of Talley made Browning rings for 1/2 what the same thing in a Talley blister pack would have cost.
