I picked up a Weaver Classic V in 2-10x38 for a bolt gun. It didn't come with lens covers, which to me is quite unusual. Is this an oversight or is this the new thing?

the only one in my head that I know doesn't come with lens covers is the Burris FFII 3-9x40 scope that I have. Most came with a bikini cover and some of my Luepolds came with a coat and my Nikon Monarch came with flip up covers.

It would not be something I would worry about too much.

If a scope comes with lens caps?
They are usually bikini cover throwaways designed more to protect the scope in shipment and impress the buyer, at no extra cost.

You want lens caps, you need to buy some good ones.

I just bought the same scope in 2.5x7x32 and it did not come with covers.
So I guess this is standard on Weavers.
Still,it appears to be a very good scope.

I bought the same scope 6 years ago and it came w/o lens caps. Doesn't make it any less of an optic, though. Mounted on my Winchester M70 in 243, it's a fine scope.
