My local shop has Webley & Scott Mk III in pretty good condition for $250. Apparently it's the civilian model with large wood grips and is chambered in .38s&w with a 4in barrel.

Is $250 a fair price for one of these? It's on consignment so I can't really negotiate the price any lower. Apparently an elderly British man is selling it and according to clerk at the shop the man said he brought it with him when he moved from England to the US many years ago.

It looks like this one and in similar condition....

I think thats a pretty good price for a great condition Webley . I recently sold
a MK IV 38 that was decent shape not quite as nice as that one . And got $230 for it .

That's a good price on a .38 Mark III - these are rather uncommon. The last .38 MkIII I saw was priced at $450. The .38 Mark III's (not to be confused with the short-lived Webley .455 revolver made in 1897) were the forerunner of the later Mark IV which saw quite a bit of military service. The Mark III has more in common with Mark VI than the Mark IV (differences in trigger, hammer, barrel latch, frame size) except for differences in cylinder retainer, grip frame shape, front sight, trigger guard which make it look a bit more like a WG. The Mark III's were introduced sometime in the early 1920's if memory serves. They were produced concurrently with the Mark IV's until about 1948 - the Mark IV remained in production until 1982.

If you don't want it, I'd sure love to have it!

Thanks for the replies.

I've been looking at for the past couple weeks but being unfamiliar with these guns I've always passed on it. Originally it was priced at $300 but last week the priced was dropped to $250.

I think I'll probably pick it up.
