Wedding Sword (and shield)

I went ahead and ordered the cold steel hand and half sword (Italian longsword was sold out)

I did my toast and ended it with:
"My wife and I decided to get you a sword. Not because you will need it, but to remind you of the people you have behind you."

He loved it. The other attendees loved it.

She enjoyed the toast and appreciated the gifts, but she was not as interested in handling them.

This could be due, in part, to the 'rona.

This was a full blown 'rona wedding. No touching, no sharing food, masks, etc

And I thought SAKs engraved with my groomsmen's names was pretty neat!

This takes wedding cutlery gifts to a whole different dimension!

They did not.

The sword comes with oil all over it so we would have had to clean it first...

and with all the 'Rona concern, that was not going to happen.

ETA: they had a cake only for bride and groom. The rest of us got our own pie (way better, IMO)
