Acrylic mallet, wood mallet, rawhide mallet, a block of wood as a punch along with a tack hammer, etc., etc..
I use my Leatherman ('cause its always handy) and a large, cotton cleaning patch to protect the gun. No problems.
"Specially made" tools, in my experience, are sometimes worse than an improvised tool, and sometimes outright destructive and/or simply worthless.
Be sure not to over tighten the wedge upon re insertion-- the steel is fairly soft and it can be easily peened, plus it doesn't need to be all that tight anyway. One rule is that if you cannot push it out with your thumb, its tight enough. A few light taps with my Leatherman Super Tool (a heavish mallet) is all it takes.
