So I ordered this with my tax return!
https://www.remington.com/shotguns/pump-action/model-870/model-870-express-tactical

870ExpressTactical81198_0.jpg

The parts I have so far are as follows.

Remington 870 marine magnum machined extractor
S&J hardware orange type 3 delrin follower
Remington 870 marine magnum extended magazine spring.
Wilson Combat jumbo head safety
Limbsaver butt pad
Upgraded police carrier dog spring

The mods it will have that I don't have yet.
Vang comp barrel treatment
Tanks wide action release
Tanks action job and chamber polish
Parked under cerakote finish
Soe gear single point sling
Vang comp dsac with Esstac 7 round shotgun card
Lose the brake choke and install internal improved cylinder rem choke
CDM gear bmt magazine clamp
Possibly aluminum trigger plate

Stocks I'm not sure on yet.

I kind of want to go with the Mesa leo adapter with the kynshot recoil reducer with magpul miad grip with hogue hand all and str stock with limbsaver butt pad like I have on my hawk 982. Only with the moe on the 982 instead of the str.

I'm also leaning towards magpul sga with r3 supercell pad with magpul forend.

I'm also thinking about Mesa tactical urbino.

I'm probably gonna go with a Haley strategic inforce wml 400 lumen on it.

I was thinking maybe tritium front site but I'm not sure. My hawk 982 has the front sight ramp with the indentation dot. I put white finger nail polish in it then put some blaze orange color finger nail polish in it and it shows up well. I'd like to find a front xs that has this type indentation in it if possible so I could do the same on this one.

I'm thinking after having the action polished I'm gonna have the inside of the action blasted and sprayed with kg gear kote dry film paint. I think I may also have the action tube and bars as well as the bolt and slide done in this as well.

870.jpg A bit of overkill, IMO, but if you're setting it up for work, I could see all that. I just bought a Tactical Magnum, added the big safety, a Surefire light mount, slicked the action a little and called it good.

One can get nice set up on second hand market. LGS had 70s vintage Wingmaster with 3 shot extension plus top-folding sheet metal stock. The gun was like new and cost $450 which I thought was resonable. All it needed was mount with light & sling.

I got outbid on every police and wingmaster I bid on. Figured I'd go with it since it was in stock and had a choked barrel!

It arrived today. I cleaned it. Oiled it and changed the follower out to an S&J hardware type 3 follower. It loads smooth as butter and loads 6 shells in the tube consistently. This has the blackest bluing I've ever seen. It almost looks like a deep black Manganese parkerizing. I changed the mim extractor out with a non mim one. 20180308_150223.jpg 20180308_150201.jpg

TN,

That’s a good looking piece on your avatar. Is your new Remmy the partner to that one?

That's a mossberg 590 a1 with 18.5" accuchoke barrel on my avatar.

This new remington has the rem choke system.

I just won an aluminum wingmaster trigger plate that was brand new on ebay for dirt cheap. I couldn't believe the guy took my offer.

I'll be installing the carrier dog upgrade on it as well as the Wilson combat jumbo safety. I may install a timney trigger fix on it at a later date but I need to see if the sear pin is staked or not. If it isn't I'm in business. If it is no timney sear fix.

I mainly got the other trigger group so as to keep my lifetime warranty in tact. I'm trying to figure out a way to parkerize it without voiding the warranty. Hell remington sells a magpul version that comes cerakoted from the Factory. I can't see as how cerakoting it would void the warranty but you never can tell.

Personally, after its initial cleaning, I would have just taken it out and shot it as it came from the factory just to see how well (or poorly) it performs.

I plan to when it's not raining. All I'm adding right now other than the follower and the non mim extractor is a line saver buttpad. Them I'm gonna test it out veggies doing anything else to it.

I have a couple of Remington 870's (plus a Mossberg) in tactical configuration. I think maybe the OP is overthinking this. After a point, more "bells and whistles" are excessive.

Exactly, K.I.S.S. principle should apply to any defense gun; the less there is, the less chance of something breaking or going wrong at the wrong moment. Besides, more "stuff" adds more weight, and usually in the wrong areas like the muzzle, so the gun become unnecessarily unwieldy.

I ran 75 rounds through it Sunday it was Remington sts loads, fiocchi reduced recoil, and some estate full power loads. I had five stove pipes. I'll put a few more rings through it to see if it works itself out.

The major cause of Failure To Eject with 870's is operator error-that is, short stroking. If you are 100% sure this is not the cause, consider polishing the chamber. The second most common cause is poor ammunition quality. (particularly aluminum bases) Polishing the chamber helps with this, as does brass based shells.

Those aluminum shotgun shell bases are actually steel and do not retract as easily as brass. For lower end guns like the Express. Maverick etc., a cordless drill with a short rod and correct bronze brush wrapped with 0000 steel wool and a little oil should polish any rough machine marks.

The best light/accessory mounts I have seen are CDM Gear's - US made and high quality.

I used Remington sts loads and estate buck shot. I was racking the hell out of it. It still did. I didn't polish the chamber yet. I'm gonna wait until I've got a few more rounds through it first. On a side note I spoke with Remington. They said cerakoting the firearm would not void the lifetime parts warranty. It'd just void the finish warranty. Well the finish isn't worth a crap anyhow so that's no big loss.

I have a mesa tactical Leo adapter with kynshot hydraulic recoil buffer in route. I caught them on sale. My question is which of the following two butt stocks would you all choose?

1. Magpul STR with Limbsaver precision fit pad
2. B5 bravo sopmod stock?

I'm leaning towards the Magpul str.
