CMP announced a release of Service, Field and Rack Grade IHC M1 Garands on the 9th. I already have Correct and Collector Grade HRA and SAs and was thinking about adding WRAs and IHCs to my collection. They also announced a release of refurbed M1D (Korean War vintage sniper rifles) with HiLux Replica M82 Scope and mounts. Having built a Special Grade M1 Garand with referred receiver, parts and new barrel at the Jan 9 AMC class at CMP, I know what a great value these rifles are.

Now I'm a shooter, my kids don't know more than which end is the dangerous end, so I went for the M1D so I can shoot Vintage Sniper matches this year and thereafter. For those of you who have dealt with CMP, you know what this is all about, for those of you who don't, I'd suggest you look at www.odcmp.com.

I've had great experience with CMP and recommend them without reservation. I just sold two hunting rifles to generate the cash to pay for the M1D.

Good luck!

Best regards,

Harry

Me too. Since I already have a couple IHC Garands, i decided to let the other folks fight over the new release from CMP.

I did send in an order for one of the M1D Specials.

I had a M1D receiver once, so I bought one of those replica scopes. I was extremely impressed by the quality of the scope, it had the clearest sight picture of any optic I've ever seen. Unfortunately the magification was also true to the original (2.2x if I recall correctly) so it was of limited use.

I would love to have one. Keep us updated when you get it and some range time. I was deeply disaapointed when I received the email from the CMP on the IHCs. The cost are getting out of control. $1100 is getting up there.

I am happy with the 15 M1s (most are HRAs), 2 M1 Carbines, 03, 03A3 and M1917 that I acquired from the CMP years ago.

I have never been a telescopic sight guy, always preferring to shoot over irons.

If that were not the case, I probably would have acquired a C or D years ago when the prices were lower.

Congrats on the M1D, FH, it sounds like you are going to greatly enjoy it. :)

I guess I'll get another one... Got to!

Having an IHC "thing" since youth I have no choice - it's compulsive.

Got:
'73 Loadstar crew cab
'73 Scout
F-250 with a proper old-school IHC 7.3
Cub Cadet
Garand
Fridge

and looking at an IHC freezer this week.

Another IHC from CMP... how couldn't I?

Todd.

The repro scopes are a crap shoot. Some are good, some not so good. I would go with a original scope mount/ scope and assceories over repro
