I ended walking out with a Kimber instead. I owed 175.00 out of a total of 425.00 on a used but unfired Springfield G.I. WWII milspec. I went to the gun store to get it but saw a used but great condition Kimber Custom II with the walnut grips and internal extractor sitting on the back shelf. I'd say the gun was at about 95% overall. I talked for a while about what they would take for the Kimber and I was offered 575.00+tax. They were also nice enough to let me switch my layaway money that I was putting towards the springer and put it into the Kimber. I also got a heck of a deal on a couple of Wilson Combat 47D's. They asked me not to tell anyone what I paid for the mags  . Anyway I was looking for a range gun to shoot reloads out of and, I guess this is it. It won't be a carry piece. I like my G26 too much for that. Well, here are a couple of pics of it, enjoy.

I'd say you did pretty well, especially since it has an internal extractor so it should work fine, unlike their newer external guns. Good luck.

Have there been alot of problems with their newer external extractors?

They have had problems with some of the 4" and 3" guns and the external extractors. They have 4 designs of extractors and some seem to work on some guns while others don't. They'll get it down soon but now it seems to be a case of keep trying different ones until one works with the guns having trouble.

Flip, thats one fine looking piece. I love blued 1911's. Let us know how it shoots. You'll undoubtedly be out on the range today!

Nice choice there my friend! :) However, I don't believe you could have
gone wrong with the G.I. WW-II Mil-Spec either. I shoot both, a brand
new Kimber Raptor II and the G.I. Springer; with the Raptor scheduled
too make its very first range trip on 04 June. OTOH, the Springer G.I.
has performed flawlessly. :D

Flip180, you made a good choice there, I like both Springfield, and Kimber 1911's, but I would have gone for the one with custom features too.

Ala Dan, I just sent my entry into American Handgunner in hopes of winning that custom Raptor II, and the Milt Sparks leather, that's about the coolest looking 1911 I have ever seen. I've been getting AH magazine for 3 years now, and this is the first gun of the month that I've actually bothered to send an entry in for.

Nice looking used kimber! I think you made a wise decision in getteing the kimber instead of the springfield! The kimber is a far better firearm than the springfield and you have the knowledge in knowing that it is made here in the USA instead of imported! ;) Also you have started down the slippery slope! soon you will find out what most 1911 owners all ready know! Real guns are made out of steel!

I really wish I could go today. I have one more wall in my living room to paint which consist of two twelve pane window and a faux fire place. That and my dining room has been my project that I have devoted every day that I've been off for the past month working on. I'm really itching to go to the range but, I need to finish that first. I'm in the market for either an FN or a browning HP next to go with my 1911. I've looked at www.cdnninvestments.com for one and will probably go there to get one.
