I'm a Smith & Wesson guy, but I won't turn my nose up at something else. I'd owned a Dan Wesson with a 6" barrel before but traded it off when I got a S&W 22 Combat Masterpiece.

But I'm a sucker for a 4" barrel revolver. Especially if it's a 22. I saw this one on the rack at the LGS, and it kept making "puppy dog eyes" at me. I had to bring it home.

It is pretty...ain't it? Forgive the flash reflections.

Yea, I like the Model 18 better, but these ain't bad.

Beauty!

I would think recoil is non exsistant in that thing.

One of these days, a DW .22lr will be mine.

Wow nice find! I haven't seen a Dan Wesson .22 in a very long time, and it looks great with the 4" barrel.

CB,

A knowledgeable DW fellow told me that DW revolvers seem hyper sensitive to lubrication (or lack thereof). The subject came up because I mentioned that I had looked at a .357 and the trigger was horrid. He suggested that the trigger pull is better than repute of properly lubed and that I should have bought the gun, lubed it properly and all would have been well in the world.

I would be interested in your 1st hand experience.

Nice dw. After being a dw owner sent 1976 I finally bought my first dw.22lr revolver. Look just like yours. Now with 2 15-2 and a 44 ,finally with my 22 I am happy. Hope I don't run into a 32-20.

Guillermo Your buddy is right I guess. I have used breakfree clp from day one on my oldest dw. My others were used and I cleaned the trigger groups and lubed smoothed the edges of all moveing parts and all slick up well quickly. Even my 22. I did replace my recoil spring in my oldest 357 a few years ago with rp wolff hammer spring and da trigger pull is 5 1/2 lbs,sa is 2lbs. The large frame revolvers are even better than the small frame when both are stock.

I happen to be in the (delayed) stages of trying to improve my DW 15-2. As Guillermo knows I'm going the "Ed's Red" bath first, so far my experience is spot on with what you have been told about them. Mine was every bit as bad (action) as I have ever seen when first bought. Some attention to stripping away old "laquered" lubricants is helping fairly dramaticly.

I'm anxious to see how good it can be, just this time of year is hell if you work with retirement plans. Tax Filing deadline tomorrow, and "Ed's Red" is a bit of a project. As I have been warned just don't mistake the "Ed's Red" with the dreaded "Dip" from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.;)

Ed's Red- long hallowed bulk gun solvent/cleaner/lubricant, color-red

The Dreaded Dip-evil substance used to dissolve 'toons, probably even the toon revolver and it's screaming bullets, color-green:what:

I'd say the DW revolvers I've fired have pretty good triggers. This particular one though is well above "pretty good." I don't know if it's been worked over, or what, but it is as smooth as silk.

I took it to the range this morning and I was impressed. I made the mistake of letting my wife shoot it. She's claimed it as her own. "Find yourself another one."

cajunbass Why to go . New revolver gone all ready. It is werd to pick up a revolver i'm am sooo use to and pull the trigger and only hear the little bang and have no snap to it. Just does not seem right.

I'd have been all over that one. Nice find.

I have the 15-2 and think the DWs are pretty underrated. Older ones can be pretty dirt cheap considering what ya get. ;)

I'd take a used DW over a brand new S&W any day of the week.

I agree. So CZ bought the name and perhaps some production assets. They seem to be doing well with the semi-autos, had a soft start with the 715 revolver and from what I've heard, pulled the plug on that.

I wish someone would buy the patents or whatever they are and figure a way to put the DW double-action trigger back on the street. The DA is almost Redhawkish but better, more refined. I don't care about the barrel change stuff but that supposedly is synonymous with it's accuracy.

Anyway, there's some buried treasure with these revolvers, if CZ can't exhume the body, I sure wish someone else would. And soon, we need to find a new revolver for Guillermo to buy :)

Never did understand why CZ didn't attach there name to the 1911 and that would have opend up a resale of the DW name but as it is we may never see an affordable or top quality dw revolver again. I was told they would build some ore revolvers in 2013 but who knows. At the price there looking to get!!!.

No, but it is a Wesson. A nice one.

Hardluk

DW revolvers are being produced... albeit small quantity so far.

No MIM. No lock.

Looks like about a grand w b street price (early pices 1100)

was having an email exchange with Keith Lawton, Operations manager at Dan Wesson on 6-26 in which he said that they are not in full production yet.

I like the barrel change 2in for carry 8in for target or hunting or any in between. I have the pistol pack in the 357 and a lot of extra barrels for the rest of my Dan Wesson. I do like 22 4in

"more choices"

I thought we only had 1....used

:D

So far the older DW revolvers are still a bit under the radar. My 70s vintage (I believe) Monson 15-2 was $300 OTD. It has some minor finish wear but I can tell that the blueing at one time was absolutely stunning. It still looks pretty nice.
The trigger is easily the equal of any of my S&Ws. Very accurate, too. IMO it was a GREAT bang for the buck.
