Still gonna have to wait til the 16th,23rd or 30th.
But I did have Big Brown in the Belmont ,so what do I know?

I don't know what Big Brown or Belmont are...

But we have to wait until tomorrow, the 16th, or the 23rd. If they don't release the decision by the 23rd, we might have to wait until next term.

I don't know what Big Brown or Belmont are...

Explanation.
Big Brown :Thoroughbred horse
Belmont:Third and last leg of horse racing's Triple Crown.
Result:George goes to the cleaners when 2-5 favorite BB loses.
Cleaners:Lose plenty wampum.
Consolation:Senor Frijoles Sports Bar in Key Largo.

9 hours 'til a possible decision that can alter history in the US of A and world for that matter.

This decision could have monstrous ripple effects across the globe. The magnitude of this can be akin to Roe and Brown...

I'm dying with anticipation!

But I did have Big Brown in the Belmont ,so what do I know
My wife insisted on watching the race. I saw the horse that was 38-1 before they went into the gates and started yelling "go 38 to 1" while my wife was yelling for Brown. To my shock, 38-1 went in front about 15 seconds out of the gates and never looked back. I can't even remember the horse's name.

I felt sort of sorry for the winner afterwards, as the TV coverage was all about the loser.

No Heller opinion today.

But this from SCOTUSblog:

The Court announced that there will be additional opinions this week on Thursday, beginning at 10 am eastern.

What's this mean?

Does this pertain to Heller?

What's this mean?

It means that some opinions will be announced this Thursday in lieu of the usual routine of announcing rulings only on Mondays.

Does this pertain to Heller?

It might, and it might not... Extra added suspense. We will just have to wait until Thursday.

No way of knowing. They don't give any hints about which decisions are coming down on a specific day.

Well I guess there is a bright side, only two more Monday's left in June.

Today (it is now 9:50 CST on Monday, 6/9) was the 9th; there's the 16th, 23rd and 30th. The SOBs are going to keep us waiting for 3 more weeks - and, just my luck, I'll be busy in some meeting when the decision comes down. That'll be OK, just so long as the decision affirms the DC Circuit Court opinion IN FULL.

Dunno

That bit about "additonal rulings" sounds ominous if only because it seems out of the ordinairy for an institution as rigid as SCOTUS.

Nothing ominous or out of the ordinary about it at all. Every June is like this. Right now they have 22 opinions to hand down from the undecided cases this term.

They will probably wait until the next session to issue the opinion ;)

If I were a SCOTUS justice I'd have fun keeping everybody in suspense!

The Shootist:
It takes 3-5min for the majority opinion's author to read the summary from the bench when the ruling is announced. With ~20 cases remaining, and the Court's desire to keep the 10am sessions as short as possible, Thursday decisions are not unexpected.

I guess they dont want to be late for brunch.

The session ends on June 23. That leaves just 2 weeks for the Heller decision, at the outside, if they are going to release it this session. From SCOTUS Blog:

Note to readers: Beginning this morning at 10 am eastern and continuing each opinion day until the Court recesses for the summer (which is expected to be the week of June 23), we’ll be “LiveBlogging” the Court’s issuing of opinions.

What's liveblogging?

So people are saying that a decision on Heller may come out on any of the next Thursdays or Mondays?
