Well, what did everyone think of Peacemakers?

I wasn't very impressed. Had a few moments, but quite frankly, it was competing against a showing of the greatest western ever filmed -- The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.


But, in the little bit that I watched, it looked as if when the Marshall arrested the suspect, who was standing over the body, that the suspect was carrying a single-shot Remington Army or Navy pistol...

The other thing I thought to be neat about it?

The Shay Locomotive.

Hard to say what time frame in which this series supposedly takes place, but the telephones would have placed it around 1885 or later, which would be right for the Shay, as well...

I thought it was pretty good. But I'm one of those people that don't just sit and watch a tv show. I tape them and fast forward through commercials, then read books, play with the PC, clean guns or do one of several other hobbies while the show is playing. Minimizes the odds of me falling asleep or getting board enough to turn it off.

I agree, I wasn't very impressed either. It could have been the hype "CSI of the West" so I was expecting it to be the quality of the original CSI, which is one of my favorites.

I thought that Tom Berenger wasn't to comfortable in his role, maybe that will improve if the show lasts a while though.

As far as Western TV shows go there have sure been a lot of others that were better. Maybe it would have been better to watch it while distracted like Hkmp5sd.

I think they need to bring back Briscoe County JR. That was a good show! Bruce Campbell is the man, as well.

I thought that Peacemakers, was ok, if not a bit contrived. I'm going to be watching it on Wednesdays, though, because it's better that most of the crap that's on television now.

I didn't watch it. All I had to see was Tom Berenger giving the all-too-predictable lip service about "ballastic fingerprinting", and I immediately knew it would be a loser. Just like "ballistic fingerprinting" is.

I kinda liked it but the first thing I thought was that the creators of "Hec Ramsey", (starred Richard Boone in EXACTLY the same series setting and plot basis) really need to call their lawyers about copyright infringement.

Hec Ramsey was better as far as I can recall. It had a better sense of the dying Wild West v. progress background.

Couldn't watch the entire Peacemakers show without channelsurfing, and I tried watching about 4 separate showings.

It certainly was a year 2003 production, very PC. The victim, a virtuous bleeding-heart liberal by our standards. I doubt that any white man would have a sexual relationship with a Chinese woman, except in a brothal. There were severe anti-Asian laws back in those days. Could an Asian even own property? The Black cowboy was a good touch as there were lots of Blacks in the West and they are not usually portrayed in movies about that era. A bit slow, too long.

I like Tom Berenger, but the crap vibe was present even in the commercials and 10 minutes of the show confirmed it. Ol' Tom's looking a little doughy these days to be menacing as well.
