This followed me home. A 1973 Colt (Made by Uberti) un-fired in the box with all the paperwork. Box is a little worn and one of the previous owners had evidently signed the box!
By the way, new to this forum.

Welcome to the THR black powder forum Just4FunOldGuns!
Did you find it at a gun shop on consignment, at a gun show or auction?
Are the trigger guard and back strap blued steel or plated?
Are you going to turn it into a shooter?

Welcome aboard!

Now that's what I call a really awesome find!

Looks to be none the worst for wear after waiting all these years for someone who will at last put this iconic Colt Model 1851 Navy to use!

Let us know how things go after your first trip to the range.

I don't think I will shoot her, just put it in the pile with some of the other cased BP guns. Been cataloging and photographing some of the other assorted guns and just had an itch to find an 1851 in 36 caliber. Week later found it at a pawn shop for $600. Took a year break from collecting any of the older stuff after purchasing a new truck about a year and a half ago. I believe the back strap is plated, is it possible they were done in silver?, as it has the tarnish look in place's of an old silver dollar.
I know I can get a 1851 Pietta locally just to shoot.

Some of the other cased BP guns. Haven't looked up the years yet on these. Seems like never enough time!
Uberti 1848 Baby Dragoon, .31

That is so beautiful I love my Uberti 51 Navy I have it running so smooth it's my go to for playing quickdraw in the yard lol
I'm actually trying to trade 2 almost brand new 1849 pockets by Uberti for a Uberti 61 navy

I have a 1851 Lyman in 36 caliber that I havent shoot for several years. dont remember ifn it were accurate or not.

I do believe you have a C series Colt assembled and finished 2nd Generation 1851 reproduction. Uberti is said to have made the rough parts and shipped them to Colt!

Its Silver plated brass!

The box's model # is C 1121, and I was 98% sure it was silver plated, by a "Read For Your Protection" card in the box. I remembered reading about these several years ago when I was researching 1851s to fill a Wild Bill Hickok display box that came with a well worn/ unfinished Pietta 1858 Remington. I am pretty sure it originally came with a non-firing gun, but I wanted something that actually fired and with character! I got $200 knocked off their asking price by mentioning that they were made by Uberti.
Thanks for all the reply's, It just confirmed my suspicions that she needed a good home, but the hunt will resume for a 1851 to fill this case.
