Yep...I was pretty surprised on how good it went, epsecially for it being my first one.

I went to the Southeast Gun and knife show here in Virginia Beach. What really surprised me was how nice everyone was. I always have the bad luck of meeting the 'too-serious' types of gun people wherever I go to ranges or shops, but everyone was actually polite and happy to be there--even the guys who were experienced and busy. I grabbed a nifty Ultra 87 12ga for about 200 give or take a couple bucks. Just a little inexpensive something to blast paper with dove loads and keep people out of my house. I also grabbed some Fletchette rounds, a bag case for the shotgun, and a new flicker/switch knife (I seem to collect them now). I'll be going in another four months when they come back, because alot of the frequenting dealers had some ridiculously low prices on the things I'm particularly interested in. If I wasnt so frugal and hesitant, I would have blown the remaining 220 or so bucks on a Saiga. next time though.

anyone else go to this today?

I went to my first gun show today as well.

Thruthfully I was not impressed. There were no deals on anything I was interested in. The local shops have a better selection & I have a report with them, so I would rather by from them.

Ammo Prices were high, again if the price is the same I would rather by from my local stores.

In reality I do not see the draw. Maybe I am fortunate to have good shops around me.

Don't get me wrong I had a good time walking around, kind of disaponted nothing followed me home.

I guess I am just not into old beat up guns with high prices.

I'll have to try another one, could have just been a bad day.

Went to Crossroads of the West in SLC today. It was quite crowded. I came away with an "Old Model" Three-screw Ruger Single Six with extra Magnum Cylinder. Serial no. pegs it at 1964. I scored a leather Hunter holster for it for $10, and a couple of boxes of .22 Magnum for $8 each. Not a bad trip.

Crap theres a gun show in VA beach??
Gun shows are held over weekends. You can still go tomorrow. ;)

There is also a Crossroads gun show in Phoenix this weekend. I will be going tomorrow - mostly to kill some time, as I don't have money for guns.

Yea. Alot of them are giving much better deals than the three local shops around on alot of guns (especially handguns, AKs and old Russian surplus like SKSs and Mosins). It's at the Convention Center...starts tomorrow again at 10am

Congrats!

Gun shows are great. You shouldn't expect to always find the great deals, you should just go hoping to have a good time.

Went to my first one today, Crossroads of the West in Phoenix.

To be honest, I thought it was pretty lame. With the exception of bulk ammo most everything else seemed to be junk, beat to pieces, or something I could get at any local store for the same price. Counting in the $12 door fee and ridiculously priced concessions I was rather disappointed.
