+1 for Don Gordon and another +1 for Texas..............

I think you should buy the wife a gun, only seems fair since you bought your kids one.

Like yours, mine really doesn't have an interest in shooting but that didn't stop me from buying her a new 9mm. Funny thing was that when I offered to sell my Mossberg 590A1 to offset the "loss", she said she liked having the 12ga around when I'm not home....

There may be hope for her, I think theres a shooter inside afterall. Just got to get past her Parisian upbringing.

It helps me

to think that being generous with my children is an investment in the happiness of my grandchildren.
And those guns should last your daughters until you have grandchildren.

hehehe Good luck mate.
Mine walked into my workshop to look for something and found out about the second safe....and the 10 kits I had laying on the shelf....and the 3 cases of 7.62. Yeah, she also noticed that I had a mini fridge and comfortable sofa - with which I became VERY familiar over the next few nights. I was amazed that she never noticed large ATM transactions out of the money market....oh that's right...I do the saving :)

I have no real helpfull advice, only that my wife has gotten over her opinion/fears of guns.

I have a seperate account that is for me and my wants and needs, I'm purchasing another pistol in two weeks, and when the tax return comes back I'll probably get another one and or a rifle as well.

I suggested we start going to the indoor range after the gym, and she has agreed we should, so now I'll probably be getting her a pistol and a rifle too.

Ahhhh.. a man who's in a married relationship where all is well..:uhoh: :D :D

Hell, this one's eassssy...

Get one of your single female acquaintances to call your house and leave a message with your wife.. something like, "my brother promised to change out my car battery for me, but he got stuck doing whatever else... can I ask if your husband would help?" (1. you DO have unmarried female friends don't you?? NO BS--just friends. If not, get to it... ya cain't just sit around on poker night an burp with the guys...). Then take your wife with you; fix whatever's broke, and go home.

Ya won't believe how much better things'll get when she actually realizes you're home every weekend and all the weeknights.

T'hell with all ya'lls bartering system--I gotta buy jewelry, dinner, shoes, etc. :D

Honestly, The guns were for the girls:evil:

I really did get the Buckmark and Marlin 882 for the girls:p . There other guns are in Alabama (Long Story):banghead: . They will last them a long time. The Marlin 120 Magnum Shotgun is mine (Retirement Present for Myself), but now the girls want to shoot it. I will take them to the range this weekend. I'll post how that goes then:)

Sometimes you have to be creative- When I reached the stage of having pretty much what I wanted with mass produced guns and got into having guns made, of course the expenditure went up drastically- To avoid problems, all of my customs have blue stocks- It's my favorite color and my wife thinks I'm taking "Old Blue" to the range when I pull one out- She doesn't need to know which "Old Blue" it is ;)

Duckster

First thing first. If your girls are small and the gun doesn't fit them real well get some Winchester Featherlites. Heck, get them even if they aren't all that small they will enjoy the lite loads a lot more.

Secondly, while I know I risk being chastised by CNY, I have a variation on Dons idea. I long ago found a great deal on a rugged double gun case from Wal-mart. I think I paid $15 each and they were something like $40 regularly. I bought 4 at the time even though I only had 2 or 3 rifles. I bought more over the years. Back then I had a penchant for heavy barreled Rugers and Leupold Scopes. Still love the Leupolds but have since replaced the Rugers with a collection of Savages. Anyway I quickly realized that all guns look alike to my wife, especially if they are similar.:D Before my obsession with Rugers subsided my collection had grown to 8, each equipped with a Leupold scope. Since they were all heavy barreled guns, except the 77-22, with walnut stocks, gold ringed scopes and, identical cases even I could hardly tell them apart. I could get away with cleaning or working on any of them right in front of her and she thought for the longest time that I only owned 2. I did have to come clean when my daughter got to the age where she might be home alone. I decided that it was high time I got a safe, even though my gun cases all had locks on them, 2 each. When we went looking for safes and my wife pointed to the small ones that held about 8 guns. I was caught and I knew it. I looked at her, smiled and said "well that could work, if she were willing to put Christina in the safe." What do you mean she said:fire: , catching on all to quickly. I said weeeeelll:eek: I need something more like that one there pointing to the one that held 35. You know though, I really should get that one over there, pointing to the one that held 60, so I have room for expanding my collection. Heck, if you are gonna get in trouble you might just as well go for the gusto, right.:D She wasn't real happy about it but she said well we do need it but, theres always a but, that she says, pointing to the thousand dollar price tag on the small one is all WE are spending. You will have to sell something if you want a bigger one. It hurt a lot but I sold off three rifles and ended up with the $2700. plus tax, 35 gun safe. I am now at the point that I need another. I WONDER if I could get away with buying another identical safe, have the Liberty Logo done backwards, put them on opposite walls facing each other. Do you think she would believe that one was a mirror?

Don Gordon: I don't consider lying to my wife to be very "high road".
to the next post also.

Guys please try to remember that as posters on a public forum, you are gun culture's ambassadors to the rest of the world.

I'll bet you are a lot of fun at parties :neener:

I like the way you think. That mirror trick might work.

Another option might be to go to the junkyard and pick up a fridgedaire logo and a couple chrome frig handles to replace the handles on the second safe. Of course you'll have to Paint the safe high gloss appliance white. :D

It looks to me like CNY's probably ignoring this thread now that he's outnumbered.

I'm not married and don't have a girlfriend, so I don't have anything to add. I will however say all you married guys are funny.:D If I ever meet "Miss Right", I hope she's into guns and then I won't be in the doghouse for buying another gun.

My wife started out getting mad about my purchases. Then when she saw that had no effect it slowed down.

Recently she decided she would go for the "Wife of the Year" award and give me her walk-in closet to store some of my cheaper guns in as the safe wouldnt hold them all.

As I dont have another wife she instantly wins.....there is no competition.

:what: "Wow" is all I can say. I plan on getting something similiar when I get a house, but I don't have nearly that many firearms.
I love the Garand:cool:
I did take the wife out to dinner last night and yesturday I demonstrated to her that I was teaching the girls to safely use the guns. I hope to get them to the range this Saturday.

Nice wallpaper :neener:

I used to do the broomstick in a gunsock trick.

Wife sees me leaving with a gun in a gun sock, I go to gun store and buy new whatever, ditch the broomstick, return home with new addition to family.

A while back I got caught with everything outwhen I was re-organizing and cleaning up out by the gun-safes and her reaction was priceless

Showed her what I paid and what they are all worth, guns when taken care of, will at least hold value and she is on board with my activities.

I just came home with a neat revolver (a Colt Cobra 38 SPL) and gadgets from the gun store. My wife said - oh, you seem happy - did you just come from the gun store? ;)

The gun was on sale from a collection that needed to move and it is pretty.

duckster which marlin 22wmr did you get? I am thinking of getting one for my daughter.

It's easy, when my wife gets mad, I just withold sex for a while, till she comes back begging. Aren't all American women that way?

My mother told me before I moved to the US that all American women are bad cooks and nymphomaniacs. At least she was wrong on one of the two!

You have the right to remain silent........

I don't tell my future ex-wife anything. And it works. At least it did with the last two !!!!!!!!!!
