"West Virginia Senate: The 2nd Amendment Is A Concealed Carry Permit"

Gotta love those GOA alerts on Facebook. It's a little dated but still important. The WV Senate passed 32-2 to eliminate the concealed permit requirement AND to make the legal age to carry 18 from where it is 21 now.

Unfortunately the article is very light on details of when does goes to the house, the number of the bill and whether the governor would sign it. I'm sure one of our West Virginia members will provide some of the details or corrections.

"Senator Robert Kames (R-Upshur) said, “This is a United States constitutional right. The 2nd Amendment recognizes this inherent right.” Senator Charles Trump (R-Morgan) added, “This bill eliminates the crime of carrying a concealed weapon in West Virginia.”

Things didn't go quite so well with a similar bill before the Louisiana Legislature a year ago. Pity, it being a relatively pro-gun state:

There remains, however, a case before the LA Supreme Court assuming, it is still on the docket, challenging the requirement for a concealed carry permit. Perhaps the court will do the right thing where the legislature failed.

Maybe another time around might do it.

We tried passing Constitutional Carry in Kentucky too, it didn't go anywhere. But our neighbors, West Virginia and Indiana are trying to pass it. If they do, it might help us to try again.

Good luck to you all. Many states are currently pushing for Constitutional Carry. It's certainly helpful for you (as well as friends/family) to write your State representatives.

Mods please close this thread. The bill passed the House and it it veto proof.

It's going to be hard for those politicos to give up the carry license fees.
That's exactly the problem in Alabama. The money from permits goes into each individual sheriff's slush fund. They are not going to give up that money without a fight.
