Hi there i own a Westernfield M147 bolt action 12 guage. It is missing the magazine.
I cant seem to find a serial number on it anywhere. I was wondering if anyone new when it was made or if anyone had any information on it.
thank you

westernfield is a mossberg store brand if im not mistaken ( may be, lost my list of store brands when my hard drive crashed) from Montgomery Wards

give me soem time to search the internet and maybe i can find the specific mossberg model so you can get a new magazine

Western Field is/was a Mossberg (mostly) 'private label' brand. Remington, Savage, and Marlin made a few Western Field models, but most were Mossberg.

If made before 1968 or so, you won't find a serial number. S/N's were not always used before the great GCA of '68.

Didn't see that specific model number in the Numrich cross-reference guide, though.

I can't turn up a thing on a M147. Westernfield was the house brand of Montgomery Ward stores.

For those too young to remember Wards and the Wish Book, he made his fortune shipping orders by rail to farmers all across the Midwest. They were being gouged at their local country stores and he found the answer to their prayers. Sears and everyone else stole his idea.

"In 1872, Aaron Montgomery Ward established the first mail-order business with an innovative single-sheet catalog offering 163 items. He was the first retailer in the United States to guarantee satisfaction to his customers. This superior service and an impressive assortment of quality goods at affordable prices led to rapid growth. By 1904, the catalogs weighed a hefty four pounds each and were mailed to three million customers."
