Compatible Cases
I would like those of us that wet tumble to come up with a list of cases that play well together during wet tumbling. As an example, I can safely wet tumble .308 Win and .223 Rem together with good results on both cases.

So, what other case combos have you found that work well together?

I'm not looking for incompatible cases, only compatible. I'll add to the list as we find others.

Compatible Cases
  1. .308 Win and .223 Rem

Deep in thought, to come up with a good reply:scrutiny:

Nope, I got nothing!

Doesn't matter if the tumbling is wet or dry if one case has a mouth than the other's head. That rarely applies to bottle necked rifle cases though. A bottle necked case head of the .30-06 family(.473" diameter) will fit into .45 calibre rifle cases(.480" diameter).
Mind you, if you're mixing .308 and .223, you need more of one or the other. snicker.

Anything 9mm/.38 cal...9mm, 38 super, 38 special, .357 mag play well together.
If you don't know the 9mm fit perfect in .40 S+W (10mm as well probably) which fit perfect in .45s so any combo of those three won't work (you end up with a 9mm clean on the inside and a dirty 40 and a .45 that's clean on the outside):cuss:

Anything with case mouth the same diameter as another case will be fine. I've done .30 Carbine and .308 together. 9 and 40 never; that's the worst combo. 9 and 45 can be okay depending on the size of the media. Don't know about wet tumbling those.

On the rare occasion that I mix brass in the tumbler I prefer to mix case sized that are obviously different, like the aforementioned .30 Carbine and .308, or .30 Carbine and .30-30. They're easier to separate afterward.

If one can enter another at all it is 'no bon'.

While trying my hand at a new toy I have discovered a new level to Tur-duck-en. Fifty action express will fit fourty-five Auto, which will fit fourty Smith and Wesson, which will fit nine millimeter. Add a twenty two rimfire as stuffing or dressing. I would like to try this with quail. I dont shoot fourty. But I can not stand litter. After all everything recycles.

With corn cob you can put the .45 cases in, let them fill up, put the .40 cases in, let them fll, up, put the 9MM cases in, let them fill up, then add the .32 ACP cases, and you'll be fine.

I don't know if that works with wet tumbling and SS pins. I imagine not, but haven't tried it. As far as that goes, I rarely tumble different cases together in CC.
