What’s the big deal about $100 knives?

I can speak from both sides of the debate table on this one.

If I can't carry my gun somewhere, I carry a Benchmade Stryker (which cost me $120 a long time ago). It's rugged, extremely sharp, quick to open, and I just plain old like it. It'll get the job done.

If I'm carrying my gun, I carry a Stanley box cutter (which cost me about $5). It's rugged, extremely sharp, quick to open, and I just plain old like it. It'll get the job done. If I lose it, oh well. I can go to the nearest hardware store and buy another.

If you're happy with your Mora or Buck, then carry it and cherish it. I like my benchmades and spydercos, and I like my Bucks and my Schrades, too. I'm carrying a knife to fill in a position as a tool, but as a status symbol. As long as it works when I need it to, it's good enough for me.

(oh, and i hope you enjoy your kukuri. I've got one (some no-name cheapy) that I really like, and it shares hiking duty with my Becker BK-9)
