Guess I find it funny when people recommend firearms that they do not own or even fired.

I'm a huge Savage fan, but those 338LM mags are Fugly IMO.

I went with a TRG-42...but if I were doing it all over, I would opt for the DTA since you can swap barrels very quickly and have to buy just one optic.

I hear ya. I find it troubling that someone would stake their reputation on a recommendation for something they haven't spent any real time with.

I bought an AI AW with the switch barrel/bolt kit i.e .338 LM and .300 WM. I then decided that I wanted a dedicated .338 LM and .300 WM so bought another AI AW chambered in .300 WM. Now I have a spare .300 WM barrel and bolt.

The Accuracy International would satisfy me, but first I need to master my .308's and 6.5G at ranges past 800yds. Hopefully this year is a mild summer with no winds.

Sorry if I'm judging here, but if you want to shoot .338 Lapua, the cost of the rifle shouldn't really matter.

Ive seen 338 go for much cheaper than that at my local Cabelas. It's not a cheap round by any means but you don't have to spend 6 dollars a shot.

Friend of mine just got a Savage LRH. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot with him since he bought it, but I think it will be a gas to light one off. He spent $60 on his first box of ammo - I'm gonna try to get him to start reloading now.

Personally, I'm gonna work on making sure I can hit at extended ranges with what I've got just a bit more consistently before I worry about getting a 1000yd+ rifle.

Even if some posters in this thread don't have experience with the rifles they mention the OP's question was "which would you buy" not which would you recommend, or which is best and why, or given your experience which would you buy.

I totally agree however that if the OP is seeking recommendation on which to buy it make much more sense to listen to opinions of those that have used the various options.

I said "Savage .338 Lapua" and told her where to get it. 1 month left to see if she's full of sht or not.. ) (she's awesome regardless) However gents, I'm getting one either way, so my question is, what glass should I put on top of it?
