I took a trip to Cabela's Saturday and was very happy to see plenty of powder and primers.

All primers types from CCI, Winchester and S&B. Some Remington and Federal primers too.

Powder was plentiful from all companies including VV and Nobel. I put three powders on the top shelf to photo to share with you-all... What a beautiful sight!

My local Cabela's has had pretty much anything you needed/wanted reloading-wise for quite some time. Maybe a few certain powders are still scarce, but generally they have what you need.

When this mess started I was lucky enough to score a six pound jug of Unique and a pound of W231. Then I had health issues and didn't get to do a bunch of shooting. Now that I'm back into it I'm good to go for powder.

I wish we had a Cabela's handy. There's a Sportsman's Warehouse, but all the powder containers are display-only (empty). You have to get somebody at the gun counter to go in the back room to check the availability of whatever you're looking for. So far, they've struck out every time. At least they usually have primers.

I've heard of Walmarts with reloading components, and you would think in gun friendly AZ we might have them...but no. The local ripoff central has powder, no SPP, and a weird selection of bullets. I can't order anything, as they say it's whatever the truck brings, no choice for the customer or the store. That means a nice long trip to BassPro. :)

Bass Pro had full shelves when I was there a few weeks ago. Picked up some Large Rifle primers, IMR 4895, H110, Unique and some Starline 44 Special brass....was very pleased to see things getting back to normal.

Locally it is hit or miss on items and when it is there they usually charge most of the Haz Mat fee on a pound of powder or 1K primers. The local Cabellas is a day trip to get there and back so I do not bother go.
Armored man:
I mostly order online from the usual suspects. If they have enough of what I want to make an order of 15 LBS powder (3X 5LB) and 10K primers I will order. Both Powder Valley and Natchez SS will combine primers and powder in the same Haz Mat container up to 48 LBS. That way the prices are a LOT more in line with what I want to pay. But that said, ordering a pound or two at a time and 1K primers is not cost effective IMHO.

Hondo,

Walmarts around me sell IMR, Hodgdon, and Alliant powder. They sell RCBS and Lyman reloading equipment.

The few stores near me that carry reloading stuff are 100% stocked. Unfortunately each of them only carries a small selection so I don't get to be picky. The only thing I can't get locally is anything in the reloader 7 to 4198 burn rate. All the stores here skip from like H110 to H355. I have a 444 that only like rl7 and a 357 herrett that only like 4198 so I have to drive an hour and a half for those or order on the internet. The aliant product just finally came back in stock here a couple months ago after being empty on the shelves for a few years.

My local Walmart had two 1lb jugs of Varget Saturday. I couldn't see paying $32.00 each for them. I have 3 pounds on hand. The other powders they had weren't so inflated.

Another note, while most powders were in the $28 to $32 range most of the VV powders were $42!

Since Walkalong and a few others have praised VV powders I wanted to buy a pound of N110 and give it a try in the .357 Magnum but I just couldn't bring myself to pay that price. In retrospect I guess I should have bought one pound.

What again are the advantages of N110 over H110???

Nice to see.

The nearest Cabela's to me is about an hour away and they keep all their powder behind the handgun counters so you have to wait for someone to be available to help you to get powder. Bass Pro has it on the shelves and Gander Mountain have it in a little cabinet, but both have a more limited selection and the prices at Bass Pro took my breath away.
