Are Lew Horton pistols, particularly their distributions of Smith & Wesson revolvers all show and no go?

They claim that the revolver versions they sell are prepared for them by S&W Performance Center/Custom shop and they deliver them in a Performance Center aluminum case but does anyone know if they're just dolled up versions of regular production pistols?

They have some with what are, IMO, pretty weird looking lazer etched "flames" and I'm not talking about those.

They have some others that are 3" barreled versions of models 24, 25, 27, and I think 29 that definitely DO strike my fancy as I've been developing an urgent compulsion toward 3" barrels on revolvers!

But their prices are pretty high for variations of regular production items so I'm wondering if anyone thinks they're worth the bucks?

I don't know much at all about the newer line of Lew Horton guns but the older ones......I LOVE!! The top three in this picture are Lew Hortons, two blued 24's and a 629.

Are they worth the money, that is pretty much for the consumer to decide. Their S&W's are special order items, they are unique to Horton's. Sometimes it is nothing more than perhaps a 3 inch barrel, when the production revolvers are in 2,4, and 6 inch versions. I have seen some Lew horton's guns sell for twice the original price.

Oh Yeah! Cottonmouth, those two blued .44 Spec.'s are of the type I saw one of and are what caused my questions here. Absolutely perfect!

SIX 3" barrels!? I gotta' find me some of those!!

I have an older LH and I like to think that S&W put extra time and effort into the production of those guns. Mine has absolutely the best trigger I have ever squeezed on a S&W, or any other DA revolver.

I bought myself a Registered Magnum!!

We, not a REAL RM but a Lew Horton version. As some may have seen I'd been asking about 8 shot S&W revolvers in another thread, so when I saw that the LH version of a registered magnum uses the 8 round cylinder in an N frame, and blued as well, I had to have one if possible. There were some left - nine, I think, so make it eight now because one of them is mine.

(btw - the price shown is WAY more than the price I'm paying. If someone out there decides to be serious about buying one, or any available L Horton gun PM me for a nicely cooperative and helpful dealer online. I'm sure he won't mind some additional business)

Cotton, there aint no need in you havin all them short barrel smiths...............i need a couple of them csa:d

Can't say much about the newer ones, tho they sure are pretty.
Mine's an older Model 624 LH from 1985. I've taken off the original Combats, put them back in the box, and replaced them with a set of Stags & a Tyler T-Grip. Great field gun.

Lew Horton is a distributor with a long history of having S&W make up specific type guns for them and selling them. They also sell standard S&Ws. Not all guns sold through Horton come from the Performance Center. If they do come from the PC than Horton will say so.
