Its not as high end as some, but it works well and was less than $20 shipped

Word of advice: Don't trust anything from dealextreme with a critical task. And if you want to make sure that awesome deal item you bought works, buy 2-3 at once. Or make sure it is something you can easily fix/repair yourself.

I never understood what made a high end knife high end until I got a Benchmade as a gift. Tighter than tight construction and a blade that cuts through anything!

I forgot my Pen, pack of smokes, and bottle of water I'm usually dragging around (and the lighting sucks), but this is my bare-minimum edc, not including what I'll also have if I have jacket-pockets and/or a backpack.
phone has built-in flashlight, a better one never leaves my backpack unless it is in my hand. My camera (panasonic lumix) is also part of my bare-minimum edc, but was used to take this photo

I'd like to carry a flashlight too but I don't want that much stuff on my belt.

I carry a tiny flat rectangular LED flashlight on my keychain. They're about $3 at WalMart. Amazingly bright for the compact size. They're disposable and last for about 18 months.

I've heard some people talk about potentially using it for help with weapon retention. Its hard for a BG to keep a grip on your gun with a knife in his arm. This is why those guys carry the knife on the weak side too.

Never thought of that, this is why I like THR, I learn something everytime I come here!

I have a feeling that I've already given this thread a serious response so I'll give it a funny one.

Textbooks, laptop, backpack, plates, cola, the weight of the world on my shoulders, and on.

2 reverse-edge fixed blade knives on belt, pistol in 9mm AIWB in kydex, spare mag in kydex holder, a small folder (for loaning and "PC" reasons), and a large folder (4" blade - because it was the nicest knife I owned and I sold all my others - and I figure it's better to have a too-big folder and not need the size, than the converse). Also a flashlight, wallet, and smartphone.

Usually a sturdy pen, but I have a tendency to lose it for long periods of time.
