So, I would like to know what ammo you feed your gp-100 preferably the 4" model. I don't care if it is speer hollow points or lead SWC. Tell me them all and especially its favorite grains!

140 and 158 gr XTP's.

Also loves 148 gr HB or BBWC's.

Does not really like 125 gr JHP's.

Mine has shot everything well. 125 to 158 gr plated mostly, with some jacketed. They are fine guns.

Mine likes all bullet weights/types from 125-180. Most loads give up very little velocity in my 4" compared to my 6" gp.

My 3" GP100 eats Black Hills 357 Magnum 125 Grain JHP's or Remington 357 Magnum 125 Grain SJHP's.

My 4" "Revolver Class" gun for the Police Games eats 148 Grain 38 Special SWC's. It's a "game gun".

Right now those are the only two loads I'm using as I have a 44 Magnum for hunting. When I get a 6" GP100, for hunting, I'll start feeding it 180 Grain loads.

My 6" likes everything from softball .38s to a more authoratative .357. It seems to really enjoy CCI Blazer (Aluminum) 158 gr. .357 Magnums. While the gun doens't complain, I just don't like hot 125 grain magnum loads.

Load it...shoot it...it'll love you more and more. And you, it.

I'm prejudiced toward 158s too:

I've only shot 158 gr. (various manufacturers), 142 gr. Fiocchi, and some cheap 115 gr .38 specials. I like the 158 grainers - they have a healthy kick and impressive Boom. The 142 Fiocchis to me didn't feel like they possessed true magnum power; the recoil and boom volume were just a bit more than the .38s. And I'm just as accurate with the 158 gr. as I am with the .38s. I have the 4" barrel, btw.

My 4" Stainless GP100

125gr JHP with 21.5gr of H110 and a WSPM Primer.
1545fps avg. over my Chrono.
This Load will Rattle your Teeth.

I'm glad I read this. I worked up a load with some LaserCasts, 158 grain semi wadcutters. The more H110, the SLOWER the chronograph read (10 rounds each weight). I think the Lasercasts are so hard the base was obdurating less and less. My theory anyway. The best group was 15.5 grains, average 1546 fps, StdDev 3.076. It was bordering on being unpleasant to shoot, but no signs of excess pressure.

Anyway, the darn things are now so expensive I've ordered some Missouri Bullets and am going to work up another load. Hope to get same tight groups with less punishment.
