Just bought a used Crickett .22LR for my 8 year old (birthday). WOndering what ammo it prefers. I bought a box of Federals at Wal-Mart for <$12. Thoughts?

You can take two consecutively produced .22s from the same maker and each will shoot a given ammo better (or worse). Buy small quantities of differing brands/loads (a box at a time of each) and test each for accuracy and functioning ( fewest duds).

My daughter's Crickett shoots the Federal Target Grade .22s with the most consistent accuracy.

I just bought my grandson the Savage Cub mini youth and I sighted it in today.

I used bulk pack Federal from Wallyworld and that sucker is a tack driver.

I like the Federal in all my .22's. Every bit as good even as CCI mini mags.

my daughter's crickett is not a tack driver either. i will say it's good enough for her to shoot the strings off coke cans (we hang them up as targets and when she was 5-6 yrs old, she thought it was funny to shoot the strings so we'd have to go hang them up again)

shoot whatever's cheapest. it doesn't matter
