In 47 years I've taken 2 deer beyond 75 yards, but a bunch around 60 yards. The 44 version Ruger has BEAT any slug gun I've tried and I have tried a bunch of them. Hand loads go for about half-a-buck with FTX bullets instead of $3.00 a shot for Remington AccuTips. Ballistics are identical and results are DRT. Compact, , light with cloverleaf groups at 50 yards with a 2X scope. Oh yea, paid $595 for mine new 3 seasons ago. Faults? One. I have to load a snap cap into the magazine first as it will not reliably pick up the round loaded on the magazine carrier. Doesn't matter as Ohio has a 3 round limit in guns used for deer
