What are the signs of overpressure?

I agree with Steve that primers backing out are generally a sign of very low pressure. If you don't believe it, fire a few primed cases some time.

As far as other signs on the primer; I have an old Beretta 96g that craters every primer that is fired in it. It scared me when I first got the gun, but I now know that it is simply the gun that does it. Factory rounds show the same condition.

I also have a 1911 that leaves marks on the case head, no matter what the charge.

There simply aren't any hard and fast "signs" of overpressure. You simply have to know what your gun does in a "normal" situation, and when you see something that deviates, you should find out why. Otherwise, your only course of action is to purchase a pressure test system of some kind.
