I try to buy a carbine in the same caliber to go along with what ever pistol I acquire.
It is easier on reloading and it is interesting to compare the difference in accuracy and performance.

My current ones are

Ruger MKII and 10/22

Taurus PT92 and Marlin Camp 9

S&W 629 and Winchester 94 trapper

Walther G22 and P22

Underwood M1 carbine and Ruger blackhawk .30 carbine

I'm interested to see what other combos THR members have come up with.

The only thing I have that fits would be my Marlin Camp Carbine M45 and my Colt 1991 1*.

I have just purchased a CZ 75B in 9mm and hear that the KelTec Sub 2000 that uses the Sig mags will work with the CZ mags. I'll have to get verification on that before I shell out the bucks, however.

I do like having carbines for home defense and in the truck. But, I have to wonder if there is any value over the .223/5.56 AR variants and their longer range and harder hitting power. Of course, this an ages old argument that seems to have no answer.

My next gun purchase will most likely be an AR lower that I can build up all on my own. Question is, do I go with a 5.56 chambering or a 6.8? :p

I do have a Ruger MKII and 10/22, however, I never saw much reason to have a long gun that fired a pistol cartridge. That is until I saw some ballistic info that showed the .357 mag from a long gun (lever action) with equal or better stats than the 30-30. I'm still mulling that over.

Marlin 1894 & USFA Rodeo/Colt New service in .45Colt

I'll replace the 1894 in .38/.357 in 2005 so that will be paired with either my Blackhawk or Model 28.

Glock 17 and 19 with a Kel Tec Sub2000 using Glock mags for ammo and mag compatability.

Ruger 10/22 and Ruger Mark II

MKII 22/45 & a couple of 10/22's
Ruger Blackhawk & Marlin 1894FG both in .41 magnum.

Kel-tec / Sa

I use Kel-Tec sub 2000 [manufactured for Beratta mags] with Beratta hi cap mag modified by Springfield for use in their XD 9. Same cal & mag all the way around. 75 yard range with 357 vel.

Well, I never considered them a matched set or anything, but I suppose I do have a couple. I've got a Ruger 22/45 and a 10/22 and I also have a Springfield .45 and an HK USC.

I would like to get a Marlin lever gun in .357 to go with my S&W 686, and if anyone ever comes out with a semi 10mm carbine I'll seriously consider it.

Rick

So far just the Ruger 22/45 and 10/22. I'm hoping to add a 9mm carbine to go with the Sig someday, unless I find something to match the Garand. Do Encores come in 30-06?.....I've got to go do research! :)

Edit:

Yep, the Encores come in 30-06. I will have one. I don't know when. I don't know where I will find it. But I will have one.
Unless anyone knows of a 30-06 revolver? Anyone

Ruger 77V rifle and T/C Contender in .223. I've been trying to find a single load that gives top accuracy in both. I haven't found it yet but that's part of the fun of reloading! :D

If I ever get a 9mm pistol, I already have the Kel-Tec SUB2000. Otherwise, right now it's an IVer Johnson POS .22 and a Mossberg 340 .22.

I have more than I thought...
Ruger 22/45 pistol, Ruger 10/22 rifle,
Henry lever action .22 and S&W 10 shot revolver in .22
Ruger Single Six .22 with my dad's Winchester .22 rifle
Kel-Tec Sub2000 and Glock 23 in .40S&W (matching magazines)
ParaOrdance 1911 and Tommy gun in .45ACP

Clements Bisley and Rossi '92

Both .45 Colt. The Bisley in Hard Chrome and the '92 in stainless.
The Bisley shoots better than I do. I need to upgrade the Rossi's factory sights.

Can I play if I don't have a combo yet?

I am working on it. I would like to find something to go with my Marlin 1894 in .357.

Not sure yet what I want. Actually I am stuck between a single action and a double action.

Double action as a practical choice. Able to use speed loaders. Preferable in a self defense situation. I consider it a little more versatile.

Single action. Just plain fun. Hmm...Cowboy action shooting maybe? I have always has a soft spot for them.

Note: Please don't turn this into a double vs. single thread. I was just commenting on my choices for my combo. I Don't want this thread to get moved to the revolver section for jsalcedo sake

Marlin Camp 45 and a Springfield 1911 .45acp
Rossi 65 and Ruger SuperRedhawk .44magnum
I also have a Beretta Vertec in .40sw that I plan on getting a Storm for.

SAA/ 92Win 38/40

SAA/92 Win repo 45 colt (2 sets)

1911A1/ Lee Enfield 45ACP

10/22 / S&W 411

Probably several more I can't remember now.

Oneshooter
Livin in Texas

HK USC/UMP and Wilson Combat Compact 1911, both in .45 acp of course

A Rossi 44 and a S&W model 29
A Rossi 454 and a Freedom Arms Premier
A Marlin 1895GS and a BFR 45-70.
A Glock 22 and a Sub-2000
A gazillion 10MM pistols and a PCR-10.
Ruger 10/22 and Mk II, Buckmark, etc.
Need something to go with the 357's.
Trying to find the new Marlin .480 to go with the Ruger SRH.

A Winchester 9410 shotgun and an American Arms 410 derringer.
I wish someone would make a carbine in 500 S&W.
