turning 21 in march and i fully intend on buying a raging bull in .454 casull my question lies in which barrel length to get. i am most concerned with recoil managment and balance. this revolver will be for hunting and will likely wear a scope but i am not 100% sure on that. also currently stationed in FL so pygmy deer and hogs are the intended quarry.

The raging bulls are all ported if i am not mistaken.

hoping to find someone that has tried the various lengths and can advise as to which lengths had better balance. I believe they come in 8 3/8, 6 1/2, 5,and 2 1/2"

The original SRH I used in .454 had a 7 1/2 barrel on it, and that was about as short as I would ever want to go with the beast. Given your choices with the listed lengths, I say go with 8 3/8".

I had the 8" or so model and I mounted a T'SOB mount with three rings and a stainless Leupold EER Scope, with a bit of EPOXY on everthing. A lot of epoxies can be "undone" using a heat gun and getting it good and hot, it then comes off like chewing gum. I worked up loads for that gun that I could shoot 2" groups off a bench at 100 yards all day long.
