I've been reading here and there about BreakFree CLP causing wild shots. I use Hoppes #9 and BreakFree almost exclusively, so I think I'm going to try some experimentation and see if those claims are true in my rifles.

I plan on taking a scoped AR and a scoped K31 to the range for series of 100 yard shots from a rest with notepad and calipers in hand. First trying with the bore cleaned by Hoppes #9 and oiled with Breakfree, then cleaning and oiling it with something else and trying again. Then I plan on reversing the test with the other bore cleaner/oil first, then Hoppes/BreakFree CLP.

So, this leads to the question, what should I compare it against?

What do you use to clean and lube your most accurate rifles and why?

I don't know the science of it, but it's supposed to be the PTFE / teflon in the Breakfree that affects accuracy. There was a custom barrel maker that made a comment about PTFE in bore products and how it affects accuracy.

Anyway, I subscribe to the non-PTFE ideology. It's not hard to find products without teflon. Butch's Bore Shine or Montana Xtreme with Butch's Gun Oil has served me well on all my rifles.

Yea, that's my understanding too. I've read all the comments, but I'm a "I gotta see it for myself" type of personality.

Does anyone know if FP-10 has Teflon in it?

I might just use try using ATF as bore lube.

FP-10 is supposed to be PTFE free.

The problem with the test conditions is that you'll be using the various oils in the same rifle. The question will be if you are actually able to remove all traces of PTFE from the bore when you conduct the test using another lubricant.

Yea, I found a datasheet on www.fp10.com that indicates that also.

That is a problem. A lot of the commentaries I've read seemed to indicate that accuracy got better after 20 or so rounds. I figure if I clean it real good, shoot ten rounds, clean it again, shoot ten rounds, and so on for 40 or 50 rounds, that should pretty much clean out any remnant Teflon. Unless anyone has a better idea...
