I had no idea of what this was until I got to shoot a gun that had trigger slap. Not only does it hurt the trigger finger, but you can't hit a thing. What causes trigger slap?

Are you talking AK trigger slap or some other type of firearm? Only one I ever had that did. Maadi. I replaced the trigger and it was a thing of the past. On the AK the bolt comes back to reset the trigger. When it does it knocks the trigger forward. Ouch.

Had a mac 11 semi that would hurt you.
There's a reason you always saw them with a piece of rubber hose on the trigger.

Its caused by dumb laws that force a full auto design to operate as a semi auto.

AR 15 format. Yeah it hurt but it was the "can't hit a thing" that really bothered.

What caliber and brand of AR?
FA 9mm. Not mine. Was offered to shoot it. It was a dedicated 9mm. Or not a conversion. I think the stock or buffer tube, must have been 4"? I'm not much of a judge of ROF, but I'd guess around 900 RPM? After ~15 rds, it was too uncomfortable to shoot. If it was the side of a barn at 10', I might have hit it!

Finally gave up on my CZ-52 as it had massive trigger slap. Gave me bruises on my trigger finger. Traded it for a Uberti single action revolver. Best decision ever.
