Today I started depriming some Remington .270 & 308, & 30-30 cases, which are probably 30 years old, the price tag on the box is $10.95 and I was using my Heavy Duty Decapping Die and deprimed about 6 cases when both the pin and the rod broke. I emailed RCBS about what had happened and they responded with sending me a new rod and a 5 pack of Headed Pins for free, WOW!! THAT IS Great Customer Service or what? I didn't know there was one for bigger cartridges (for 27 cAL and Higher) so I ordered that one besides the .22-25 Cal that I broke this morning. Now I am set for reloading some old cases which I have had about 30 years but have always been stored inside the house.
I don't know how this happened but since I am waiting for a new Decap Rod and Pins, I decided to clean the brass with my RCBS vibrator, when I was done I looked at the brass and all of the brass was Remington .270 except for two F.C..270's, I also noticed that there was two marked .280 but when I measured them both, 270 and the 280, they were very close to the same measurements. I have no idea where the 280's came from cause I have never had a 280, GO FIGURE!! My media is really dirty so I am just cleaning them with what ever the dirty media will clean then after the new rod and pins come I will decap and clean the with Corn Cob media and NuFinish, that should get them to shine. I still have to order bullets, I have about 125 so I will reload all of them with the same set up.
Just thought I would let everyone know what I did today in my loading area.
