I could be the poster child for the modern day version of the old hearing protection warning ad. A guy held an ear plug in one hand and a hearing aid in the other. He said,"You can wear these now (earplugs) or wear these later (hearing aid)."

I'm olny 28 years old, and I pull the hearing aid out of my ear and say that very thing to anyone I show how to shoot. I wish I had seen that ad about a decade earlier before the damage was done. At least now you and I can pass it on new shooters be they young or old.

I know that most of us know this now, but some people don't. Tell others, and more importantly lead by example. New shooters can be uncertain and very impressionable; show them the right way. Mabye then there will be fewer of us asking," What did you say?"

My hearing has been terrible since I was 20 years old. Not shooting, just music and concerts. I do warn others and have my brothers fairly paranoid about losing their hearing, one of whom wears earplugs to concerts religeously. I sure wish I did. When I'm 60 I'll quit talking to folks and just send them e-mails from down the hall.:D

Ever since I got a job making and repairing hearing aids 5 years ago, I am very careful to wear protection. The sound quality of hearing aids suck compared to normal hearing.

I have always been very religious about wearing hearing protection. I have a friend that shoots his Glocks all the time with no ears on!! I always argue with him and insist that he wear some protection. Sometimes it helps.

 Did you say something, Antibubba??

:p

I don't want to come across as being bitter, because I am not. I just want to help others avoid the problems I have. Of course, it comes in handy on Sat. mornings when I hear the alarm and don't want to get up . I just roll over and sleep with my good ear toward the pillow.

This works pretty well......until my wife elbows me anyway.:D
