What did you shoot today?

I shot my AR 15 in 5.56 and my m11 223. Cleaned out both last week, had carbon ring near chamber throat on one and build up between muzzle and flash hider on the other. My savage, typical , won't shoot well clean, but it settled down after a few rds. The AR did well going 45 of 50 at 300 meters on 4" and 6" steel plates.

Initially I went to do load testing but had a difficult time with the wind blowing and gusting in opposite directions until the rain started, but jept shooting through the rain and managed some decent groups considering I hadn't fired a shot in 6 months.

Pulled a few but, the vertical was mostly from a hot barrel.

Went to the range with 4 new to me guns that I haven't shot yet. A LLamo 1911 clone, Browning Hi-Power, G29 and a G20. The Llama was not fun to shoot as it kept catching the web between my thumb and forefinger. The other three though were a joy to shoot. The G29 was snappier then I thought it would be and at one point I was thinking of taking the Hogue sleeve off the G20 but found that I liked the way it felt when I shot. Good times getting them all out to stretch their legs.

Hi..

I spent Sunday morning and the early afternoon at the gun club with my son.
Shot all of my .357Mag revolvers plus the lever action rifle(about 12 revolvers), all four .44Special revolvers, all four .41Magnum revolvers and four or five of my .45Colt revolvers. Still have several .45Colt revolvers that I didn't get to along with all the .44Magnum revolvers and the .45Colt and .44Magnum lever action rifles.
Didn't shoot any semi auto pistols or the .30Carbine BlackHawk, the .357Max or .375SuperMag this week.

Arthritis in my neck and overall fatigue limited the day after about four hours.

I know my son shot most everything I shot plus the semi auto pistols and the two lever action rifles I didn't get to. He said he didn't shoot all of the .45Colt revolvers, either. He said he did shoot most of the .44Magnum revolvers but he didn't say which ones he didn't shoot.

Still have plenty of loaded ammunition so we can make another range trip when ever decent weather coincides with him having time.
I the meantime, I have lots of dirty brass to separate, clean and process. I probably shot close to 500 rounds all told and my son probably shot more than that since he was doing speed drills with the 10mm, .40S&W, 9mm and .45ACP semi auto pistols and I watched him shoot a couple hundred rounds of .22LR at the falling plate rack with his H&K semi auto rifle.

Zeroed at 50, then shot from 75 to 300 yards in 25 yard increments. Paper to 275, and
and then a steel plate at 300 yards. It has 6 shots, 2 shots each at 12.0, 12.1, & 12.2 Mills.
No, I don't remember which shots were which.

Testing the new Lapua Long Range .22 LR. (It drops more at 300 than my Dasher at 1200)

My SIL came over to shoot her S&W EZ .380, and she asked me to bring something "big, loud, and impressive",
so I brought the Redhawk in .44 Mag. I shot a cylinder full, she thought she wanted to shoot two, but quit after one,
my older brother then shot a cylinder full. I failed pics, but here's an old one.

A few years ago Mrs (Ida) Thunkit had a some of her friends over to shoot. They all brought their 380s and small 9mms. I think one had a 38 revolver.

I loaded up some 44 Mag brass with a mid-range 44 Spl load of 200 gr lead, and got the Taurus M44 out of the safe.
I handed that big revolver to them gals and told them to have at it.

They loved it. That heavy, ported, rubber-gripped revolver just soaked up any recoil. They would shoot, laugh, shoot some more. They were talking among themselves about shooting a 44 Mag with no problems. They had a ball. It was a real shoot-n-hoot.

I just grinned and kept my mouth shut. The idea was that they have fun.

Over the weekend I took the wife with me to the range. She's not a gun person. Not an anti; her and firearms are two ships in the night. All I brought was the Christensen Arms Ranger in 22LR and two boxes of ammo. All shooting was standing, unsupported. I was hands off, only popping in to show her how to chamber and extract a round. Started at 5 yards to gain some confidence and progressively added distance. Stopped at 20 yards. Then we used the range bag as a rest and groups tightened. After the range trip she said she could understand the fun in plinking. The Ranger's light chassis is perfect for someone who would be turned off by a heavy rifle. Accuracy is great too. And the 22LR cartridge is perfect for easy plinking. I pat myself on the back for picking the perfect combo of rifle + cartridge for this particular trip. One of my favorite range days.

On Sunday, my son and I spent about an hour shooting clay birds at the gun club.
I used my Winchester semi auto 12ga...he used his Franchi 12ga autoloader, his Mossberg 12ga pump(it's configured for home defense, so not ideal for clay birds but he wanted to shoot it) and my Winchester.
We didn't take several other 12ga shotguns with us on this trip.

Not sure how many rounds I spent missing clay birds but it was sufficient to give me a rather large bruise on my shoulder.
FWIW, I did manage to hit a respectable number of clay birds. Not as many as I would have liked to hit but not too bad.
My son did much better than I did.
His eyes are 29 years old and mine are 68 and that's my reasoning as to how he out shot me.
