What do have waiting for you in the reloading room?

Iraqvetran8888 bought a ultrasonic long enough to hold a barreled action because he works a lot on milsurps, trying to get all the cosmoline and other garbage out.... looks like that would have been a good use case. I probably would have dropped the chamber section in a gallon of b12 chemtool for a bit.
Believe it or not, the barrel wasn’t bad. Haha. I did resort to brake cleaner in the trigger group

A while back, an acquaintance had an older custom bolt gun in 260 from his grandfather. Scary gun; pull the trigger and the gun would take 5-8 seconds for the sear to drop, or it might take another 8-10 seconds. Scary. Turns out Granddad regularly sprayed the trigger (Sako) assembly with WD-40 as a part of his post-shooting cleanings. Then he'd place the rifle under the bed for storage. No case, just under the bed

Took some serious acetone scrubbing to get that thick oily gunk off of the trigger surfaces.

I have three boxes of the same .38Spl load - except for the primer - and three revolvers to try them in packed and ready for the indoor range. Tomorrow is testing then I get to work on the brass. Assuming nothing about anything.

The revolvers are a 1980’s Rossi M851 3”, a 1958 Colt Official Police 4”, and a 1966 Colt Official Police 4”. The older Colt has a new spring. The newer Colt needs a new spring. The Rossi has always been very reliable but it doesn’t seem to like very hard primers.
Two rounds in the newer Colt requied a second strike and one in the Rossi. That’s about what I see with hard primers.

Bottom to top:
Colt OP, weak mainspring
Colt OP, new mainspring
Rossi M851
D are from a different box primed with CCI 500 and fired through the Rossi.

I did have a second strike in the Colt with the weak spring and the CCI but everything else went 100%.

Are those all SyA primers…?
No The top row is from a different box but I think I mixed up the Fiocchi and CCI. The CCI are Ni plated but those clearly are not. I was rushing a little and had four boxes going at once.

By the way, the box of Gevelot with SyA was 100% in all three revolvers. I wasn’t expecting that. They were really stiff seating.

Maybe it ‘twas the “metricicity”………
lol!! The French Gevarm ammo from the postwar reconstruction is all over the place in quality. The same box, sealed since ‘52 had some long, some short, some with crimped primers, some with glued in primers, and some that were very hot. But the brass itself is a good alloy and has thick cups in the base.

And I got it for $1/box of 50 from Sportsman’s Guide. 😁

I have 300 .38Spl cases in boxes fresh from the tumbler waiting to be decapped, polished in walnut, resized and reloaded. It’s going to have to wait until the weekend. And, I still need to clean the revolvers that emptied all that brass.

Mañana. 😁

i have 1,500 9mm projectiles, and cans of processed brass waiting... also 50 brand new srp 308 brass waiting for a side by side comparison with my pet hunting load... (N150& a 178 ELDx) But I'm currently a "1 armed bandit"... so... I did hear the MRI is approved, so hopefully things can get figured out quick... This feeling of the whole left shoulder assembly feeling like is glowing cherry red is getting old fast!!

Got some 358 Win made up from 308 brass to go in the M-96 Mauser 6.5x55 conversion to the 358. The 1943 Husky 96 is a 3/4 action so takes a bit different reloading technique to get proper feed along with a bit of ramp and feed mod, mostly minor stuff. Decided I would give the conversion a try.

Are you an octopus? Last time I checked I could only run one at a time.

I think it’s the pain and lack of sleep, but I just got a picture of this ridiculous cartoonish dance running several at once… bwahahahaha!

I still am looking at my new, lubed and waiting srp 308 brass. Need sized then tumbled. I’m setting up a tumbler with corn cob that will be only for polishing/waxing. I’m a wet tumbler especially to get rid of the lead! Might try to work at it tonight; as much as I can with one arm. MRI isnnext thursday… so…

I just got my new Lyman trickler in the mail and I’m waiting on my 5-0-5 and rcbs universal hand primer to show up. I’m almost ready to do my first loads at home.
Update on this trickler.. it was super squeaky out of the box and the tube had lots of fore and aft movement. I took it apart and added a tiny bit of moly to the bearing surfaces, and gave it 500+ hand turns. Took it apart and cleaned it up. Now it feels like ball bearings. Barely put a finger on it for a spin and get one kernel at a time if you want. It’s very heavy and doesn’t move. I highly recommend it. But does need a tune up out of the box 👍
