What do you like about having extra ammo?

Well, in most of the movies they are very slow and uncoordinated, so you would prolly have more time than you think. I wouldn't worry about stocking up too much.

It's not their speed or coordination; it's the size of the herd. Be prepared...stock up!

I like having "extra ammo" so that I can give my friends over 6,000 rounds because they are either new to shooting or they didn't pay attention to what was coming.

My idea of "extra ammo" is finding another 2,000-4,000 rounds I didn't know I have.:)

The fact that having "extra" bothers the state legislature, LE officials, and the liberals.

Back when I smoked people would often ask if I had an extra cigarette... I would dutifully remove the pack from my pocket and count in front of them - 14,15,16 and I smoked 4; hmmm no extra this time. Then I would put the pack back in my pocket and walk away. The same basically holds true for ammo.

Just finished inventorying my two main ammo storage areas, still have 5 ammo can/boxes to inventory. And so far I have less ammo than I thought I had, so I have no extra ammo to feel good about.

Time to make another 10,000 rounds. (LOL)

Jim

And yes I have components.

I like having an ammunition cache so I don't have to really concern myself during times like the last 9 months when supplies are limited. But a shortage still has impact regardless of what kind of stash you have as far as I'm concerned.

The only time I truly have "extra" ammunition is if I pretty much shift to shooting a couple boxes of ammunition a year and saying "I'm good enough.". At that point, I have lots of extra ammunition.

Life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes we expend a lot of energy on shooting hobbies and other times we focus on other aspects of family, financial health, and well being. When you focus on other priorities, making it to the range to practice isn't very important. I don't know about most of you, but in my family, there is never enough money to pay for our wants and needs. Where guns, ammunition, and shooting stuff fits into the mix of priorites is up to you.

I like the comfort of knowing i could ride out just about any type of conflict that could happen here... lots of different weapons with lots of ammo to feed them all...

if ammo is a consumable, and you will absolutely need more at some point, how can one say you have extra?

Or, as Colonel Jeff Cooper said, "There is such a thing as enough ammunition. There is such a thing as not enough ammunition. There is no such thing as too much ammunition."

After seeing what has come about in the last few years I vowed to never be short of any ammo.
And I have actually helped a few people who have been unable to find any ammo at a price that was even close to sane earlier this year.

I visited on old out of town friend a few weekends ago and he showed me his stock pile and to say it was massive is an under statement.
While talking with him about his ammo stock I told him I was about to buy a Ruger SR22.
The next thing I know he opens a container stuffed with red bricks of Federal Lightning .22 ammo and hands me a full brick and says "Try these in it."
And I will tomorrow.

Not having to worry about whether I'll be able to get more of course. I haven't been able to shoot for about 8 months now. I shoot a little here and there but I'm sure my skills have waned. I wish things would get back to normal so I could remember what it feels like to shoot up way too much ammo.

The big benefit to me is I don't have to worry about ammo since I can't find in stock locally now anyway (or reasonably priced on the Internet). Heck, I even sold some ammo in early 2013 because people were throwing their money at everything on the market...

I'd still like for supplies to trickle back in! I haven't been shooting in probably a year now because I haven't had time, but I don't know how often I would be going if I did have time just because supply is still tight here.

Having the amount of ammo reserve to where I don't have heartburn about plinking stuff off of my back porch!

You never need to join panicky mobs hunting for it. You only need to find silica to throw in the many ammo cans.

You won't worry as much as most people will, when politicians one day decide to add a steep tax (tariff) to imported ammo, or they decide to ban imports from certain countries.

I have extra ammo! It's only extra because I got rid of the guns that were chambered for it. Who knows, I may purchase other firearms in those chamberings. Short of this, no, no extra ammo.

There is nothing extra about ammo. I bought when I could afford it, and stacked it deep for price spikes such as this. Now I can keep shooting when I otherwise couldn't afford it/ find it.

When buying one of my guns at my LGS, the salesman asked me if I needed any ammo. My reply was "no, I have enough to start a small war". His reply to that was "the idea is to have enough to start a big war". So no, I have no extra ammo, I'm still buying and striving for enough for a "big war". :)
