I'm thinking about building this. Any thoughts or comments?

Masterpiece Arms MBA PA Chassis - $1,125.00
Bartlein Straight Taper/Match Barell - $412.50
Impact Precision 737R short action receiver - $1,430.00
Jewell HVR Trigger - $450.00
Thunderbeast Muzzle Brake - $125.00

$3,542.50

That’s 2x too much for a Jewel HVR, and Jewell is no longer making triggers (sadly). Stick a TriggerTech Diamond or Bix n’ Andy TacSport in its place.

I’d personally get the MPA Matrix over the BA chassis as well, and the BA Comp over the standard model, but the BA is a good chassis, if it has the profile you want.

Which cartridge?

F-Class I take it. Good luck.

It's not F-Class. Muzzle brakes aren't allowed in F-Class matches, and the MPA BA really isn't a good choice there - nor is an Impact action common fodder there.

The build list describes a PRS rifle, with the exception of the Thunderbeast muzzle brake, as it's a relatively low performer, and isn't self-timing, and most of us in PRS use self timing brakes to make life easier.

Sounds to me like the op has never done this and is throwing money at a problem hoping to come up with a solution when in all actuality he needs to attend a match see what he needs and grow and learn over time not just jump in feet first so to speak

I think This post answered your question. I don’t have Facebook so I can’t look to see what the Facebook page says
Mr.Wick shoots very well and resides in the SW, ill encouraged him to seek out DSS and hang with the big dogs.

I wish MPA had a long action chassis for one of my actions because I really like the weighting system for the chassis. Other than that the build is out of my $$$ range but sounds like a good long range target setup. I might have missed it, but what chambering are you going to use?

The link was to an F-class group so I assumed (silly me) that was the answer to the question someone else asked. As Jim said, maybe it is just something he wants to shoot. Now that my extensive ignorance is exposed I will stop now and take my meds.

I'll second the TriggerTech diamond, I love mine. The Impact some people complain about a hitch on bolt close, this can be addressed by a different trigger hanger. I went with the Lone Peak Fuzion over the Impact myself, an extra $20 and I am more than satisfied. The barrel, you could go with an M24 taper, unless you absolutely want the straight barrel. I don't have any experience with the MPA chassis, I am an MDT fan myself.

The biggest thing I think you need to consider is the cost of getting the barrel finished. When I ordered a Bartlein from a smith it was between $800 and $900. It was a little over $400 for the barrel, $100 for muzzle threading, and for shouldering it was a little over $300, plus shipping, so I'd double the cost of the barrel.

Also will you need an ARCA rail, chassis weights, bag rider, bipod? Do you have scope and mount already lined up?

No worries - I was largely pointing out to the OP the fact the rifle he described is very specialized, such it will be “OK,” and competitive in PRS ONLY, but really won’t fit any other competition format. Since he mentioned “competitions,” he needs to be focusing specifically on the unique format he’s chasing, and if that isn’t PRS, he’s building the wrong rifle.

The barrel, you could go with an M24 taper

If this PRS built rifle is confirmed to be meant for PRS competition, then I recommend going heavier than M24. The BA chassis will need ~4lbs of weights on the forend to balance properly with an M24, with none of that weight helping with barrel temp. Get that weight on the rifle as barrel contour and barrel length.

Now I am confused by your link but that's ok. SNAFU.
Nothing to be confused about.
FClass rifles can be several configurations ( chassis or fancy high dollar stock) with just a twenty two pound limit, most any caliber and shot of a rest or bi pod and rear bag while shouldered.

FTR rifle is limited to 308 w or 223 rem and 18 pounds.
I’m not sure the OP is totally settled on what to build that’s why I suggest getting with the large semi local club (DSS) for some first hand information.

@South Prairie Jim - so is the OP confirmed he’s wanting to shoot F-class?

A lot of stuff CAN be used for different sports, but I’d be hard pressed to think an MPA BA would even be considered a “good choice” for F-class. And I don’t think an Impact would be my first choice there either.
