22 handgun?

Seriously. It'll keep your handguns skills sharp in an ammo shortage. Shoot all day on a few bucks.

Yep!

IMO: You need at least one .22 handgun way more then you need a s/s double coach gun.

Agreed. A .22 handgun would be a good option although I doubt they will be affected by any forthcoming legislation. The Ruger SR22 and S&W M&P22 are nice for semi-autos. The Ruger .22 revolver is nice but a little pricey. For a simple SA revolver for plinking the Heritage .22s are not bad and they are very affordable.

You might even add a lever-action rifle to that collection but again I don't think those are in danger of being impacted.

Get a .22 pistol or revolver.
You've got several small handguns but nothing full sized. I'm a Makarov man myself but if you were in a situation where a long gun wasn't practical it might be nice to have a full sized handgun in a common caliber you already have.

Ammo stockpiles aren't really required. (And I say this sitting on a stockpile of ammo like a dragon sits on it's hoard of gold).

People forget that gun owners don't HAVE to shoot for recreation. True, that shooting skills are degenerative - but not to the point you're going to forget how. There's options for keeping those skills maintained OR even advancing those skills without ever firing a single live round! Snap caps, airsoft, BB-guns, and so on.

Short of the story, what you NEED.. depends on your needs.

A trap / skeet shooter goes through more ammo in one session than I've gone through hunting ammo in years. An IPSC/IDPA shooter will go through more ammo in one day than I'll need for self defense.

So get what you need.

Well, thats an opinion, for sure !

In my opinion I've never seen much use for a .22 pistol.

But, like all belly buttons.......

#1 - 12 ga shotgun, AR, & 10/22 are all good to have.

#2 - The Stoeger 12 ga, Bulgarian Makarov, & Glock 36 are all nice guns BUT. . .you have pretty, unique, & low-cap - respectively.

#3 - You may want to think about trading your 38 Specials up to 357 Mag to have the extra option in the same gun.

#4 - You REALLY need a 9x19 semi auto that holds a decent capacity. You also really need another Ruger 10/22 with a similar setup.

Just as an aside, not many folks would feel under gunned with a 38 snub, right? Did you know that the proper 22LR round from a 10/22 packs as much muzzle energy as the 2" 38 snub?

Finally, you need a 6" barreled revolver in 22LR just to practice trigger control & general marksmanship with.

That is a good point for the .357, and the 9mm hi capacity. I suppose I have always weighed concealability heavily into the equation----in both current and shtf situations.especially in this hot southern climate.....
