What do you think the most reliable/rugged .22lr is

You brought up paint chips. Shall we bring up bluing of the rifle as it applies to durability?

Lets do zero in on that comment about tighter tolerances. Yes, the new housings are held to tighter tolerance because quite frankly, they're easier on the molds. Problem is, when fitted to the stock they actually increase the amount of play between the two. So, replacements may be more consistent but also more consistently undersized. Second, thanks to the properties of polymer that allow it to flex, without attention to the specific example rifle, less consistent sear contact should be another result of the space age wonder housing. That would result in a) a lack of consistent trigger pull and b) an increase in wear on the sear.

Now you're wanting me to slam my 700 bolt handle against a rock or tree while tumbling down a slope to prove the theory that a bolt handle can be sheared off by more than one means? No thanks. If you think a brazed bolt handle is as strong as a one piece or threaded go right on believing that what you have not witnessed cannot be reality.

Now, care to answer questions about extracting cases with a broken extractor? Even more fun if it were a controlled feed design.

Remington 581/541 series bolt action (.22 s,l,lr)
CZ 452
NEF handi rifle single shot...stupid simple but keeps on going.
10-22 that started as a receiver, bolt, and trigger group in mid 90's...hasn't failed me since I built it up.

Have you seen the old rusty duck taped Browning (or Remington browning) .22 Auto they use on Swamp People??

That has to be it!!!
