I'm looking to buy a new knife to carry for SD. I was looking at these benchmades http://benchmade.com/products/product_detail.aspx?model=MWG+9050-702 Anyone have any experience with these knives? Quality, Performance, Sharpness? Any other suggestions for an edc SD knife would be appreciated. Also I live in Florida so keep it within the knife laws as far as I understand switch blades are fine but has to be 4inches or under.

Dont have that one but have used Benchmades as part of my EDC for years. As for quality, they have never loosened up and I have never had trouble 'touching-up' my 154C blades.

Benchmade makes very high quality knives in general.

They seem to be very well built. But the grips still look questionable. Looks like if you were to thrust and hit something your fingers might slide and that would not be pretty on your index/middle finger clutching the knife with all your strength.

The AFO is a good knife, but if the spring fails on an auto that isn't also setup for manual one hand opening you will have trouble on (in?) your hands.

I collect autos and the only ones I would think about carrying for SD are DAs that would allow me to open the blade without the spring.

My EDC is a Sebenza, but for SD I carry a custom Darrel Ralph DA Apogee or a CRKT Kasper Companion.
